12 MONKEYS - Any fans ? Great storyline from this Terry Gilliam feature I felt a good tension in the play between Bruce and Madeleine Stowe . Also one of the first freak-roles from Brad Pitt which i saw , although i guess he played another dark-role before that in Kalifornia ? And with Christopher Plummer as Brad's dad . The end of the movie is open & surprising .

Everyone I know looks at me like I'm BRAD PITT's character in the movie because I love it so much.... He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.

No, not really... It's based off the movie "La Jete", which was around 1,000 times better and an hour and a half shorter.

I loved the fact that it didn't have a happy ending. I only went to see it to Brad Pitt play crazy

AMEN!! I get so sick of movies with predictable happy clap-trap endings... He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.

...buffy, more wine....this fil-um is tedious to the point of exasperation... He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.

humph! Movie snob... ...Nah, just a better movie... ...The original didn't attempt to be funny in any way, shape or form...there was no soundtrack, only the narrator's voice...and it was made up of nothing but haunting B&W stills. Might be the most influential sci-fi film of all time.

I think it's only available on DVD as part of either a double-bill or as part of a group of short films...(and I guess it's spelled "Jetee" and not "Jete"..lol..tho I've seen it spelled both ways). Got a 92 rating on rottentomatoes... http://www.rottentomatoes...-la_jetee/

I think La Jetee is probably mine... ...Which is probably why I wasn't too impressed with seeing the remake. Felt too bloated when the original is only 28 minutes long...lol Alien is right up there, too. And Blade Runner underwhelmed me...until the last 15 minutes, in which I left the theatre blown away. 2001: A Space Odyssey ranks high as well, especially after I finally "got" what it was trying to say...lol I don't know if it can be classified as science fiction, but if it can then Donnie Darko jumps up on the list as a tie for first...

One of the reasons I like Blade Runner is because it doesn't spoon feed the audience. I also love that it's dark and paints a far from utopian vision of the future, this gives it much more credibility.

I'm a big Brad Pitt fan and I loved 12 Monkeys. I've seen it a bunch of times, but I could never quite get the ending when he's on the plane talking to the woman. Somebody clue me in??? Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

"Insurance" - in case he failed at his mission, she was there to stop the threat. Yes! .. No! ... Yes! When the sunlight strikes raindrops in the air, they act as a prism and form a rainbow. The rainbow is a division of white light into many beautiful colors. Regardless of the day, I'm glad you were born.

"Insurance" - in case he failed at his mission, she was there to stop the threat. Yes! .. No! ... Yes! That's another thing I didn't like too much about 12 Monkeys...the original (La Jetee) has a very bleak ending, there's no "insurance" in case he fails...you realize at the very end that he--and the entire world--is stuck in a time loop, destined to relive the nuclear war over and over again, with the main character destined to witness his own death over and over again. Sonova... [Edited 8/6/06 1:10am]

One of my all-time favorites. Brad Pitt did a great job and finally stretched his acting muscles.

From memory it was the woman ( right ) in the team who sended Bruce's character to both worlds . The contact-making to the "other" world went always very quick . Remember the scene when Madeleine called to Bruce and somehow his team in the other world caught that message , only Madeleine's voice sounded deformed , like it was a male-voice . I tripped on that detail in the specific scene .

They tacked that ending on to give the movie a happy ever after. lol. The director's cut has the original ending. Ridley Scott is a genius, the movie is based on Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K.Dick.
