However, whatever you have I feel that even though you're a musician, your health is more important. Sometimes you can have it all your way. I am trying to get into the muisc business, but I got a job soem years ago in customer service to pay the bill and get some good benefits. I am in a different dept now, but I did what I had to do.

I don't need to know what you have. Not my business, but can you hold a customer service job? My cousin is bi-polar and she can handle a customer service job...on her meds

i teach, like i said earlier, so i'm not looking for anything like that right now. and i'm studying the rest of the time, plus i get benefits for my condition. however, when i have completed my degree, i hope to make the teaching full-time, and lose the benefits quite delieberatley (not the 'gravy train' that some think it is) and maybe get another part-time job as well (maybe even in customer service if the role is right).

peace

Ain't THAT the truth! lol The benifits are excellent tho...
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

What if it's volunteer work? I volunteer my time somewhere and enjoy the people I interact with, but the people running the whole thing make it unpleasant. Should I quit my volunteer work because of them?

i hope it's just a phase that you're going through. stay mindful of your work, don't waste your time worrying about them too much. And if you don't like the job and feel like you're volunteering for no reason then be strong because there's nothing you can do about them. there's so much more to gain when we can share. nothing comes too easy.

You said mental health. That, to me, is different than just health care in general. Healthcare here is just fine, however you need insurance. Most people, who work, who don't have insurance don't have it because they don't want it

why on earth do you think mental health is different to other health care? this is the problem i have with america. it is a physical disease of the brain. if you had cancer, you'd seek treatment just the same.

everything is under much tighter control in australia. doctors are oblidged to give patient's stats to some other goverment department. if a patient see's a doctor they sure their stats are being recorded and sent off.

I think everyone deals with a certain degree of bull crap at work. But often times I feel people overreact and don't understand how to take constructive criticism, people get all uptight and defensive, they have a complex that makes them feel like it is impossible for them to ever make mistakes at work. Reality check people, if you are human, you screw up from time to time at work. If you can take the criticism with a grain of salt, apply what is being directed at you when it is in fact true, and ignore the other crap that you know is 100% false you will be okay at work. As for the victim mentality, get over yourself already, if you hate your job so much, find one your passionate for. I love what I do, there are parts that suck about my job, but hell it only makes up 10% of my job (as a teacher I.E.P's, parent conferences, and as a coach "why isn't my kid playing") but the other 90% kicks ass. Get paid to do what you love and you'd probably bitch a lot less about being treated unfairly.

I work with 80 % women at my job, they have good ideas and can contribute mightily, but male teachers do things from a totally different perspective, and the female colleagues of mine will usually be receptive to things I say, just as long as I am receptive to certain ideals of theirs and just as long as I visit that gossip, clique bound hell hole that is the teachers lounge once or twice a week.

The problem here is we have extremists on both sides of the coin, that need to seek a middle ground of compromise. Can't we all just get along? (or at least find some common ground?) lol

sure. the day women get paid the same wage as men for the same work and the day we can live our lives without fear of becoming that grisly statistic of one in four of us being the victim of physical, domestic abuise.

that'll be the day, hey? smile

The closest i ever got to being treated unfairly was at this TM job I had. Me and this other girl, my age at the time, like 20, got promoted to "outbounds". Which was like a big deal for both of us, cuz we were pretty much in charge of a whole room of telemarketers, and it was like "a real job" to US at the time. And we both really took it seriously.

Well we used to have to go to these meeting once a month for all the other OutB's from the other offices. Well, our boss (a 30 something married pervert) told us that we had to wear a skirt to the meeting, cuz thats what everyone wears. So we go in our lil skirts and dontcha know it, no one else had skirts on. So that was fine.

But then this other time, for our Christmas party, all the offices have it at this hotel. Theres like outta staters and stuff. So our boss was like. Daniela and Tonya, the rule is that your not allowed to bring boyfriends as your guest. Everyone else can, but the rule for OutB's is NO BOYFRIENDS. Then our female manager was like. Yeah dress hot, so U's look better than the OutB's from other offices. SO we do, and we go solo.....

Here the A**Holes sat us with 2 pervs from outta state and totally was like handing us over to them on a platter!!!!! mad mad

Ummmmm, then theres massage clients, but yeah. yanno.
