Have you ever been treated unfairly at work?

or at any other group or organization you belong to? Have you ever tried to make your voice heard or protest and have it stifled? Have you ever been harrased or had someone always "on you?" How did you handle that?

Who hasn't?

I had a very bad time with an old boss who tried to muddy my name because I didn't agree with his policies...thankfully my union was there to help me out, as well as some co workers.

So what do you do about it? What about a group or organization type situation?

In my case, there wasn't anything I could do. Got my walking papers faster than I could blink mad But I ended up in better jobs both times so I think as unfair as those 2 situations were, I ended up better for it nod

statistically 1 in 10 bosses in australia is an actual psychopath.

and 1 in 5 average australians will develop a mental illness at some point in their life.

this is why i have tried my damnedest to avoid the traditional workforce after numerous horrible jobs and set up teaching my own students.

I had 3 bosses, and was one of 2 employees. My workmate terminated an unwanted pregnancy, just weeks before I announced my own pregnancy. She became depressed and withdrawn (undestandably, given her situation) and downright nasty to me over the months. My bosses spoke with her once or twice and in the end got me to pack up my stuff and move into the other office!!
not that it was unfair exactly (although I really liked my desk by the window) but so strange!! I would have thought they give her some time off and insist she get counselling!
She was the receptionist for god's sake and she was snarling at our clients! Really unprofessional!

What if it's volunteer work? I volunteer my time somewhere and enjoy the people I interact with, but the people running the whole thing make it unpleasant. Should I quit my volunteer work because of them?

I guess it would depend how much you enjoyed doing the work you were doing.... I volunteer at my church ... I'm pretty active there...but a few years ago there was a priest there I just couldn't stand...he was just not a nice person...I didn't leave and go to another church... I just avoided him...but that's because church was so important to me. A couple of years after that turns out he left the priesthood... things sometimes just take care of themselves.

Yeah. I threatened to blow the whistle on someone, and was told that if I did, I would be a black woman looking for another job. So it was a very simple decision to quit. I knew they'd get theirs from that or another thing. And they did. lol

Well there are plenty of places to volunteer.... The choice is yours.... If you choose to stay make the best of it with those you serve..... If strife follows you..look inside to see what you can do to influence it or let it go... At times, you are simply butting yer head up against a hardened wall ( That has been such longgggg before you) What profit is there in that?
