My New Books!

Angela McAllister's The Tide Turner;

Cal is a Silvertail. She never knew her mother, Sylla, and does not know that with her dying breath Sylla bequeathed her daughter the power of the Merrows - the means to battle an evil that threatens the entire ocean. When Cal meets Jake, a Creeper from the Overbreath, the two are drawn to one another. Cal, like the rest of the merfolk,is astounded when Jake is able to join them beneath the waves. Could he be the one that legend speaks of? The Tide Turner who will save their world?

Phillip Reeve's Predator's Gold

Philip Reeve is back with this gripping sequel to the Smarties Gold Awardwinner, Mortal Engines. Fleeing from an Anti-Tractionist sect, the Green Storm, Tom and Hester are left drifting in the frozen Ice Wastes, slowly dying of cold after the Jenny Haniver's engines have failed. They are saved at the last minute, finding Anchorage, a once-beautiful ice city that has fallen on hard times. Crippled by plague, there are barely fifty souls on Anchorage now, and the teenage margravine has made a desperate choice. They are heading for America, the Dead Continent.

And Steve Augarde's The Various

When 12-year-old Midge is sent by her concert-violinist mother to spend the summer at the farm of her sweet but bungling Uncle Brian, her initial resentment gives way to delight in the freedom of exploring the countryside. When she discovers a tiny winged horse lying wounded in an outbuilding, she is awestruck to find out that he comes from a civilisation of five various tribes of little people living in a nearby wood—-something readers will have already learned from alternate chapters set in the fairy world.

Not yet, i got sidetracked by a downloadspree of TTD music, a chat with a very cute guy from Venlo and season 2 of The 4400.

I will keep you posted onhow the books are.

I must admit; besides the Reeve book I went for cover. Both covers of The Various and The Tide Turner were SO beautiful I had to pick them up. The stories spoke to me as well, so I took them with me.

Okay, Predator's Gold is a second book in a series and the first book (Mortal Engines) is an absolute adventure. So I am really looking forward to this one.

And as fantasy is all about follow-ups and series, The Various is the first book of something bigger too; I first picked up book two, so i took book one with me instead.
