This is a very interesting observation. I never looked at it from this perspective. I just thought I was being the nice go to guy. But I guess I'm like that emergency fire extinguisher in a store In case of emergency. Are you trying to tell me I'm the dick in the glass case, in case of emergency? i had a similar friend .... like this ..... reminds me ALOT of what you are saying ....
i have to predicate this by saying --- women view "friendships" so differently than MEN .... they say things like "oh i wish my boyfriend was like you" .. etc ... and it is like --- is she fuckin with my head .... or penis ... or what????  ... so you really have to analyze it .... big time ....
my female friend dated a best friend of mine ... when i first met her ... so --- i am the type that "would never go there" even tho she was really cute , etc ... and she always flattered me ... etc .... i knew how much my best friend liked her - and still does to this day --- so ... if i was to get naked, etc with her .... i know it would very much upset HIM .... and well ... to be really blunt ... it would complicate alot of things also ! ... anyways ... she and he were recently talking ... and he made a comment like "you slept with snidely didnt ya " .... and she said "NOOOOO ... that would be just like sleeping with my brother .... "  .... "i would never do that " ....
