I was told years ago I had to have all mine removed too. sad

So far only top two have gone, still got bottom two. Can't actually remember getting the top ones out. Which is, I suppose, a good thing. confused

But being British, it's a surprise I've still got teeth at all!

I had all four of mine removed when I was 33 yrs old. I was so terrified..
It was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Make sure you go to someone who is really good at teeth extractions.
My experience was much better then I thought it would be. I was very surprised and I wish I had done it sooner..
Best wishes to you!!

I just had all of mine removed not too long ago. It's not so bad. The pain only lasted for a day or so. You'll have your painkillers,so you'll be fine.

Since mine don't really bother me, I'm thinking I may just leave it alone. Why put myself in so much pain? lol

If the doctors suggested it, then it's probably a good reason for it. I'd go ahead and get it done. Git Ur Done giggle Only one was giving me problems to start with, but I just went ahead and had all four done because I would've had to get them out eventually.....why not get it done all at once. It's cheaper too since you only pay for one anesthetic fee to get them all pulled.

I had all four of mine taken out in my mid-20s. It hurt a litle bit, but it really wasn't all that bad.

Well, every few months they start to bother me. This last time was when I finally went to the doc. In a few months, when the pain starts again, I may decide to do it. I'm not going to do it now because I'm not in pain

OK - Heres the truth form soembody who had 3 removed not so long ago and was pooping themselves....it wasnt that bad at all.

Th einjections were the worst bit, a quick cracking noise and tehy were out...I thought he was just getting started.

I have to have my 4th out in a few weeks...not scared at all.

All the stories of dislocated jaws, ice cream for weaks, swollen face like a hamster are just urban legend..if you've had them done you know its not that bad

oh and heres some more info if you are British.

Im sure you've heard of NICE Guidance - guidelines set up by the government for Health Care professionals to follow.

Well the Very first guideline NICE Guidance No1 is...Removal of Impacted 3rd Molars (wisdome teeth to joe public).

Its states that, where pathogen free, impacted 3rd moalrs should not be removed.

So unless you have an infection they might not need to be removed...it is of course GUIDANCE for your dentist/Hospital and there may be other reasons to be removed but alot of peopel just think when they pop through tehy have to be whipped out.

Oddly enough I work in a hospital and my area is....Maxillofacial and Orthodotics - spooky eh?

Why? Do you have deep cavities in all of them? Or are they hurting the other teeth? My dentist told me I should keep my wisdom tooth until it started acting up (which might never happen). No point in pulling something that doesn't cause any problems, right? Sometimes I think dentists routinely pull wisdom teeth just so they can earn more money.

You are right - some dentists are right finacial cowboys. I've just had to change mine and he mad eteh mistake of not realising that I know what Im talking about when it comes to teeth....tried to tell me that I should have a scale and polish once a week for the next 3 weeks as plaque build up can cause ulcers. I pointed out that I work in a hospital and my speciality is orthodontics and maxillofacial and I had, in all of my years, never heard that before...he backed down and said it was just a theory and perhaps it wasnt necessary after all

My dentist told me that if one was removed then the other would start growing downwards into my bottom gum where the other tooth was removed. Basically it keeps my teeth aligned by having all removed. I don't miss them one bit.....but I do miss that Vicodin redface
