Ladies: Do You Get Offended When ..... someone (male or female) refers to you as a "chick"? The reason why I ask this is because if you look up the word "chick" in the dictionary, one of the definitions is: "an attractive girl or young woman (slang) (sometimes considered offensive)." I guess it depends on how the word is used as to whether it would offend someone or not. I find myself calling another female a "chick" if I don't like them, usually in a disparaging way. What do you think? RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

No, it doesn't offend me at all...but then again, not much does.
I say "chick" all the time. I didn't know that it meant "attractive or young girl". I guess I shouldn't be calling all girls "chicks" then.

It's better than "broad". I don't really like the term though. Not sure why. I'd rather be called a "bird". "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

chick doesn't bother me, and "broad" is kinda funny to me. (hell, i don't even mind "b1tch"! one term i can't stand, though, is the word "female" used as a noun. don't know why, it just seems derotagory to me.

In the north of england we get, duck, cow, bitch, slapper, and ho-er.. slapper is my fave But up in the north it is meant as a friendly term... (lol) otherwise they would end up with a broken bottle in their face.. (what am I saying - sheesh.. Course nobody calls ME that - cos I dont even go out .. but yeah I have heard the terms.. but its all in jest.. (I think)

(I think) Well in the south its not meant in a friendly way, not really. but its not as strong as slut etc. Its more on a par with tart. But obviously it depends on the context, sometimes friends use it with each other and it's meant in jest when used like that. are you alright? ... [Edited 9/10/06 12:41pm]
