The Giving up Smoking Thread. v4.8 7 months today without a smoke.
well it was actually yesterday but i forgot. How is everyone else doing that made plans to give up for their new years resolution? Any words of encouragement i can lend, please dont hesitate to ask. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

i've quit a bunch of times. haven't been truly addicted in years, though i've had a puff every now and then socially... but what kind of of bullshit statement is that, i tell you. it's not social at all.
7 months is great... BEWARE though... after about 2 years you might get the urge if you're not careful, at least i did..

You know, there is only one thing more annoying than smokers: people who keep talking about giving up smoking (and failing misirably time after time). "It's better 2 B hated 4 what U R than 2 B loved 4 what U R not."

do you smoke drugs and drink a lot too? if so, cut that shit out and force yourself to walk at least 30mins every day or second day. you'll be ready when you're ready... otherwise you're be a "smoker walking around not smoking" if you're not ready... ya gotta be ready. and get ready to get emotional if you quit... smoking (and addictions in general) blocks emotions like nobody's business... but you'll feel like a million bucks in time.

I keep going back to it when I'm bored and/or depressed. And it's so good with drinking.

Keep it up!!!!! thanks for you words of encouragement,i dont think i will ever go back to them.Im enjoying not coughing my guts up in the shower every morning.Im enjoying the extra cash that i have. Its great that my clothes and hair dont stink of stale smoke(it isnt nice smelling someone who has just had a ciggie). My fingers and nails arent yellow and my teeth arent stained.I feel physicaly fitter and just healthier all round. Ive put a few pounds on but im now playing 5 a side soccer twice a week to get back into shape. I started this thread because at new year there loads of people posted on a thread about giving up. Well done to everyone who has kept at it, for those of you who havent, dont worry about it just keep trying. I keep going back to it when I'm bored and/or depressed. And it's so good with drinking. true but you must realise that smoking MAKES you depressed? nicotine tricks your brain into thinking that the more you get, the better you'll feel. the opposite is actually the case. it's a vicious cycle. alcohol (and coffee, too) works on the same receptors in the brain as nicotine... it all comes back to you ...remember how you were when you were little? you didn't need that shit, because you had YOU... and you are all you need, at least in terms of well-being... it's a hard psychological block i know (let alone the physical dependance), but if you can topple that block (nay, beat the crap out of it, i say!), then you'll live longer, attract more people and be happier in general. all the best, Dr. Despues.

i think that is very important, too. worrying about it can sometimes make you want to smoke more.
