I just went to the eye doctor on saturday to get my lenses. I have never worn them and they gave me a trial pair until my supply comes in. They didn't show me how to put them on though confused I ended up dropping one down the bathroom sink lol

i am completely blind without my contacts/glasses..... can't remember which is which, but one eye is -7.0, the other is -6.0

omg whoa....that's pretty bad. hug I remember one time I was driving and my eyes became so dry that the contacts just popped out.....I freaked out and panic because I didn't have any solution with me at the time and there was no way I was putting them back in my eyes after they had fallen on the floor of my dirty ass car. I didn't have a phone at the time, so I couldn't call anybody to bring my glasses. I just barely crept on home driving way below the speed limit and just depending on other cars to determine when the traffic lights would change. When the sun is shining in your eyes it's hard enough to see the lights with decent vision so imagine that with not so great vision. I'm so dependent on them that I can't be without them for a minute or else I feel dizzy. Are you like that too?

lol yeah, pretty much!! when i hold my hand in front of my face about five inches away it's fuzzy if i don't have contact or glasses on. if i lose my contacts i'm screwed

Smooches giggle I remember you. They weren't good doctors then....they should sit with you and practice until you get them in and feel comfortable about it. That's what my doctors did. It took a few tries and I thought I'd never be able to just touch my eyeball.....but I did and it wasn't so bad.

i get it from my dad's side of the family. when i was a little girl i had an uncle that wore contacts as strong as could be prescribed at the time, and still had to wear glasses on top of it!! he eventually had the lasik done and was actually in an ad for the procedure. i would love to have that done.... i dream of waking up and not having to reach for my glasses. sigh

Well, I think the receptionist assumed that the doctor had showed me how to put them in. Oh well. When I pick up my supply tomorrow, they will actually show me and I have to watch some video confused

Everyone in my family wears glasses too. It's pretty shitty that insurance only covers lasik for those suffering from serious blindness due to diabetes.

My dad is mostly responsible, too.

I have a friend who's an eye dr and said he wouldn't recommend lasik, just because the risk is too high. Still, I know for most people it's great.

hmm

yeah, he says it goes well almost all the time, but if something happens (and it does sometimes) you could really be blind.

I should add he doesn't actually do that kind of surgery himself.

sorry I had technical difficulties!

I remember seeing the old type of surgery on TV. They sliced the front of your eye off, froze it, spun it on a lathe and reshaped it and reattached it! yikes!
