Contact lense wearers

Okay so I wear disposables that your supposed to toss every 2 weeks. But I just wear them till I can't see out of them any more. I dunno, like a month and a half 2 months.

This is what everyone else does rite?

My wife was informed by her eyecare person that that is what the great majority of people do. It's what she does. She got a year out of 3 boxes.

I think I could keep them in longer than I do.
But I think sometimes I put the contacts in the wrong eye and mistake it for oldness, and throw them out.
Yanno?

That's exactly what I do...usually after about 3 weeks they get cloudy and I toss them. I stretch them to three weeks instead of 2, typically. If they get uncomfortable before that, I switch them out.

I totally feel ya on not tossing them though...

I get the feeling that these eye docs own plenty of stock in contact companies.

My doc told me to only use the "name brand" solution because it's "made for
this specific type of contact...yada, yada, yada"

The whole time, I'm thinking "I'm gonna keep buying the off-brand and how much stock do you own in the company?"

I take mine out every night, but I wear them at least a month--that is unless I'm too lazy to clean them before bed, then I just throw them away no matter how old they are.

That's a bunch of bs Renu says "accept no substitutes." If the FDA approved it it's good enough for my crappy eyes!

shake You guys are taking big chances with your eyes, You can keep using the lenses for a little longer but NOT until they're cloudy. Don't they make enzyme cleaners anymore? That would extend the usage time for you.The disposable lenses are basically the same as the old ones that used to last six months to a year but had to be cleaned with enzymes every few days. That cloudy build up can irritate your corneas to the point you can't see right.
Please don't fool around with your eyes, it's such a pain to be blind, even in one eye.

I used to do that with my contact lenses sometimes to save money. I ended up with a nasty eye infection a few months back, so I've been wearing glasses ever since. I'm ready to start wearing my contacts again, but at the same time I'm loving not having to pay that much for contacts right now. It's always good to have a pair of glasses even though you're wearing contact lenses. For one it saves money and it's back up in case your contacts are irritating your eyes a particular day. My eyesight is so bad that I need to wear glasses/contacts. I can't drive without them.

I have no clue about my glasses, but my contacts were Biomedics Toric. SPH for my left eye is -2.50....right eye is -3.50.

omg whoa....that's pretty bad. hug I remember one time I was driving and my eyes became so dry that the contacts just popped out.....I freaked out and panic because I didn't have any solution with me at the time and there was no way I was putting them back in my eyes after they had fallen on the floor of my dirty ass car. I didn't have a phone at the time, so I couldn't call anybody to bring my glasses. I just barely crept on home driving way below the speed limit and just depending on other cars to determine when the traffic lights would change. When the sun is shining in your eyes it's hard enough to see the lights with decent vision so imagine that with not so great vision. I'm so dependent on them that I can't be without them for a minute or else I feel dizzy. Are you like that too?
