I have just watched the last ever Top Of The Pops and for the most part(about 85 - 90%) all they ever featured were British acts!!

During the 80s segment they never showed Michael Jackson, Prince, INXS or any other huge acts from the USA or other countries!!!

Yet during the 90s segemtn all they showed was about 5 seconds of Princes performance when he did Baby Knows!!

U would have thought for a grand finale of a worldwide Music institution like TOTP they would have gone all out and featured major mega artists!!!

Or you would have thought that because its a British program as a sign off they would feature British acts!

Then again maybe the BBC is inherrently racist and hates everyone but us good old Brits.

Well it's a British show. Most fo the guests over the 40+ years have been Brits. You do the math.

They didn't show Prince or MJ in the '80s segment because they didn't appear in the TOTP studio during this period.

As far as I am aware INXS didn't appear in the studio therefore not shown on the program. They would have had to have aired their videos for their appearances but there's no point showing artist vids in the final TOTP program as it was all about who actually appeared on the show.

This is all IMHO, obviously - could well be wrong!

It´s a British show, so they feature British artists. In the 5 times I´ve been in America I don´t recall seeing the music programs full of British acts. Go figure. Quit complaining.

As far as calling Top of the Pops racist, that's quite ridiculous and I don't see your reasoning behind the statement Desire2006. I think your're just annoyed by the fact that the retrospective didn't feature heavily music you like. As far as I can recall, TOTP was the British music television forerunner showcasing artists of all races, since the 60s until the onslaught of music televisual programmes. This of cause I believe resulted in its loss of viewing figures, decline in popularity and thus eventual demise.

I was surprised they didnt show the Mustang Mix video of TMBGITW that he did JUST for TOTP.
