convince me to go vegetaian again

ive always felt it was inherently wrong to eat animals

dont believe me?do a wee test.slaughter a pig/chicken/cow in front of a group of people and ALL will turn away disgusted-the old addage that if slaughterhouses were glasshouses we'd all be veggie!-i dont know anybody me included who could kill an naimal to eat it(hmm actually i live in NZ i do know a few hunters so i take that back!)

anyway i eat meat again but would like to give up-i need shock tatics and i need nice recipes!

whatever you feel ethically, i just think it feels better from a health perspective to go vegetarian. i've had lots of friends over the years tell me they tried going veggie and that it made them feel a lot more energetic and less bloaty and weighed down.

of course, in my perfect world where everyone does as i say, i would recommend you go full vegetarian. but if you have to sneak in some fish or a burger every now and then, so be it. doing a little bit to make yourself feel better beats doing nothing.

i would never, NEVER go vegetarian. Meat just tastes way too good not to eat it. And I think it also provides you with energy better than everything else, fruits and vegetables have their own advantages so it's all about the right mix.

Interesting. I have a friend who became veggie for a complete year, not due to ethical concerns, but because he just wanted to try if it makes any difference (a self experiment).

His conclusion was that he didn't feel better or worse as a veggie. The only difference was that he didn't miss eating meat anymore when he stopped being a veggie, he said.

Shock tactics are the worst. I believe its someone using mind control games to control you to think how they think. Eat what you want to eat and not let guilt be an influence.

I am what people who like to label people (I despise labels!) a flexitarian because I eat fish and other creatures from the sea, but I don't do land animals. I gave it up cold turkey on December 12, 1996. But, I do miss it every now and then.

My parents are old school. They had to kill their chickens and cows and thought nothing of it because it's part of their upbringing. I'm not against people eating meat, never was and never will be.

So, pop open that grill and throw on some chicken, ribs, sausages, hamburgers, and hotdogs. Enjoy it while you can. Because with this global warming, we're all going to be burnt chicken in a couple of years.

If I knew I had a month to live, I would have a 22 ounce Chicago steak from Gibsons, A couple of boxes of ribs from Carsons, a Chicago hot dog day for lunch everyday, a deep dish sausage pizza and a serious homemade cheeseburger. I will eat to my hearts content because eating healthier would no longer be an issue for me.

i gotta wonder how much meat he ate before and how loyal he was to the diet during his "experiment". plus, 18 years worth of discussions about vegetarianism have taught me that everyone responds different to a strict vegetarian diet. people have different metabolisms and whatnot. results may vary. nod

He ate quite a lot of meat before and afterwards, and he was very strict with his vegetarian diet (when he was a veggie).

I don't think animals have to be mistreated and lead miserable lives shake Things can be improved on that level.

That said, we are naturally omnivorous and our balanced diet must include all groups of food in their right proportions.
You can choose not to eat a group of food. It's your choice. It's just not NATURAL.
Do you think other animals must not eat meat either? Or is it right for a lion but not for a man?

I wish people were as compassionate towards other people (even if they are iraquis, or iranian or mexican...) as they are to animals neutral

it's absolutely natural. humans have a level of reasoning that other animals don't have. our ability to reason is NATURAL, and it gives us the ability to make decisions such as what we choose to eat and why we choose to eat it.

lots of animals eat from the garbage, and some eat excrement. are those things in YOUR diet? i mean, after all, it's natural, right?

and as for treating humans the same way some people want animals treated, well...i don't know why it has to be either/or. being in the habit of treating all living things with dignity really isn't the worst thing someone could do.
