DOG FIGHT!!

My brother and I hardly ever fight. If buy chance we do, we end up squashing it right away. This is ONE fight we just cant seems to get over.
Here's the story, tell me what you think:

I have a sheltie, and I love my dog. He means the world to me. I cant stand to see animal programs that have the slightest violence or obidence training (ie, hittting or tapping with hand or finger). Its cruel, and there are other ways to teach you dog the meaning of "dont" or "no".

He has the cutest little dog, (reminds me of TOTO for some reason). It's super friendly and well mannered. My bro leaves the dog outside while he's at work, which is normal. Sometimes he forgets to bring him in afterwork, and it gets kinda cold outside. He insists hes OK, he has a house and a blanket if he needs it. I think its wrong. When you get home, you bring the dog in. Especially if its a house dog. Before we went out to eat, he put the dog in the bathroom. This bathroom is small, and I really thought that was unfair. He leaves the dog in there overnight at times. He doesnt want it to pee all over the place. I told him how I felt and he got mad at me. I told him I was willing to take the dog if he couldnt keep up with it, he told me to mind my business.
He loves his dog, but he also leaves it alone alot. This is unfair to the puppy, and I feel really bad. We are now in the middle of a "dog fight"
Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize
u simply imagined this
So u lean over and give her a kiss
Here on earth, here on earth,
with u it's not so bad
Here on earth, here on earth
eye don't feel so sad
Stay right here

I agree with you, the puppy needs attention.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

I have come to believe that confining dogs is a better option than allowing them to be destructive. But it's not a substitute for training.

And I don't think there's anything wrong with leaving a dog outside, as long as they are comfortable, but they are social animals, so if they're going to be out there longer than a workday, a companion might be in order.

Alternatively: if you don't have time for a dog, don't own one. smile

That is why I don't have one. I love animals but I don't have time for them. I couldn't leave my dog by himself all day. A cat I could probably handle because they are more independent and I could spend time with it at night.

I agree. I was planning on getting a pet then thought about how much I travel and how hard it is to find a sitter for my son. A pet sitter would be damn near impossible. Everyone in my family besides the kids dislikes anything with fur. They think they are nasty and my mom is allergic to them. So I sacrificed and adopted the apartment cat that everyone feeds. Spots likes the outside but loves attention. This is the most friendly cat I have ever met. All the others were aloof or just plain mean and won't let you near them.

In your case, sounds like you are going to have to choose between your brother or the dog.

I don't understand why people get dogs sometimes sad
my sister has a husky, it sits outside the backdoor looking in all day. She shouts at her if she tries to sneak inside, and that is about it for interaction with her pet. disbelief
