i never saw that as a kid but it looks like the kind of thing that i would be scared of and that all the kids at school would make fun of me for.

I don't remember that specifically, but I remember seeing that doll and being scared for some reason, even today I was reluctant to watch.

I remember this vividly! It didn't scare me too much, but my younger brother was scared to DEATH of this commercial! Ventriliquist dummies still scare him to this day.

Yes it did.
The other t.v. trailer that spooked me was the beginning of the Exorcist. The music, Tubular Bells, would start and I would run out of the room. OK, I have a crazy story connected to this fucking doll This came out I think when I was 8 or 9. I remember one time we went to my mom's boyfriends to stay the night and she went off to the bedroom while we slept on the couch bed in the living room. That damn commercial came on and me and my younger sister were literally clutching each other in fear.
Later that night I was still awake from being afraid of that stupid commercial and i heard my mom and her boyfriend fucking and I heard them getting off 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

My older brother had the chicken pox at the time this movie was coming out. One day this very commercial came on TV, and my younger brother got scared shitless and ran and jumped under the blanket my older brother had on him.
A couple days later, my younger brother had the chicken pox, too.
