About an hour into my day, my boss walks in & says that he needs to talk to me... So I get up to follow him only we don't head towards his office, he leads me to the VP of our department's office. They sit me down & tell me that they appreciate my work & that they felt the need to adjust my salary, mid-year, to be more in line with the industry average. Then they told me that it was a 10K bump...

I was floored, to say the least!!! It is nice to feel as though one's efforts are appreciated.

So join me in celebration; first round is on me...

That's SWEET! I just happened to get MY OWN 10k jump just yesterday! But only because I told them last week that I was thinking of moving out of Palm Beach, Florida because I basically can't support my wife and kids on my current salary. (and it's true) Everything around here is just going up, up and way up. Even my rent is jumping up an extra two hundred next month.

If I didn't freelance almost every night, my family wouldn't eat.

On the flip side, I got flown over to Dallas last week for a job interview that would bring me almost to 6 figures. 6 figures easy if I keep doing my freelance work. AAAAND they said they didn't have a problem with me working out of my studio here in Florida. I'm not going to freak out just yet because that flow isn't in my pocket yet and tonight I'll be going through the couch looking for change to go buy a gallon of milk. However, I spoke with them yesterday and everything looks all a-go and that the final steps are that their HR dept. is doing a background check on me. After that, they will be sending me a formal offer letter.

The only downer is that I'll have to be in Dallas for a week or two at a time so I won't exactly be able to kiss my kids good night.

I also went down to Ft. Lauderdale this afternoon for a 30k freelance proposal and the execs went nuts. They loved my ideas for them and kept calling more VP's into the conference room to see my presentation. I'll have to wait until next week to get the VP of IT's approval, then it's deposit time.

It's very strange time alright. Got jack in the bank, in fact I'm overdrawn but some AWESOME promises for the month(s) to come. So I'm not doing the happy dance just yet.

So where you at? Let's get a beer together! I could go for about 6!

Yea, they could have done it over the phone & saved me a trip/fresh clothes/makeup But it was the best thing for me at the time I was fresh out of college, getting used to making some money (little money), & it was the most boring job on the planet with jack shit to do with my degree. It hurt at the time (I actually cried!! ) but I'm so glad it happened
