30 year old dies in Atlanta mosh pit

ATLANTA -- A man dies after a metro Atlanta concert – and now his family wants answers, and police want your help finding those responsible.

A family of a man can’t understand how a night of fun at a concert could end with him dead.

It happened at the Hi-Fi Buys Amphitheater during a concert by the group Korn on Sunday. Police say 30-year-old Andy Richardson was beaten by two other concert-goers.

Homicide investigators are looking into the beating. Andy Richardson passed away just after 2 p.m. Tuesday. He has been declared dead, but is on life support so they can harvest his organs for donation.

Gloria Richardson is trying to figure out how a night of fun could end with her son's death.

“Can you imagine your child goes to a concert and be killed for it, because of people out there fighting to have a quote unquote good time?” says Gloria Richardson.

Gloria is still trying to comprehend how her 30-year-old son, Andy, ended up brain-dead after he was attacked during a concert by the group, Korn, at the Hi-Fi Buys Amphitheater. She also can’t understand how the attackers got away.

“And I’m angry. I’m very angry. Why were the police not there to stop them,” says Gloria.

“We were all enjoying the concert, we were having a good time, until these two guys came around,” recalls Andy’s friend, Edgar Arellano.

Arellano says it all started after the two men were mosh-pitting.

“A mosh pit is just jumping around and pushing each other,” explains Arellano.

A sign at the amphitheater says that activity is not allowed. Arellano says Andy told the men to be careful not to hurt his pregnant girlfriend and a mentally-challenged child he had with them.

A fight broke out between Andy and the men, but it soon ended and the men left. Arellano says the men soon returned, and one hit Andy in the head with his fist, knocking him head first onto the concrete.

“He was unconscious. He had blood all over his face when I picked him up,” says Arellano.

Andy’s mother wants anyone who knows anything to give police a call. She’s also like the attackers to turn themselves in.

“I doubt that you will. But you really should and you should feel a lot of remorse because you cost a young man his life – for nothing,” says Gloria.

Police say they’re still investigating and only got a vague description of the suspects.

It should be mentioned that he was there with his pregnant girlfriend and mentally handicapped son.

Let's see how long we can keep this thread a serious discussion.

Yeah, he probably should have just moved away instead of confronting the cretins, but in no way did he deserve to fucking DIE.

I'll be suprised if the guys turn themselves in, hopefully someone turns them in. Its a shame how people can get out of hand and gang up on people for no reason.

Oh that's sad.
The security people probably wouldn't have gotten to them in time to help in any case. Two people acting like idiots are not "mosh-pitting", they're just out to cause trouble.
I've been in tons of moshes and mostly it was fun, but there are occasions when there are some real jerks out there. People used to look out for each other a little better than they do now. You have to be aware of what's going on around you at these things, because there's always the possibility that someone will get out of hand.

why does the American press always try to be inventive with ways of saying straightforward things?

that just sounds WRONG.

Harvesting is the medical term for organ removal here. Been using that term since they've been doing transplants. shrug

Fair enough. I would have guessed that was the case. Even though I lived in the States for a few years, I never got used to the need to change words or invent new terms for straightforward things like that. Harvest just sounds inhumane to these ears.

It does sound a little harsh. What do they call it in your neck of the woods?

i'm not sure they call it anything in particular. they would probably just say that the deceased was having their organs removed for donation. so..."removed"... what's wrong with that? but i understand that makes too much sense for some people.

There's really nothing wrong with either term. I like the regional differences in the language. smile

Omg Korn fans are such assholes! I've seen them a couple of times, not cuz I wanted to trust me, and I'm going again soon ughhh!

And anyway, every time I've seen them there has been a big ass fight, last time was at the Area in The Meadowlands and there was this fight on the other side from us... not even on the floor or in the pit...inthe seats... and all you saw was this group of people atttacking eachother and a huge line of yelow shirts running up to the stop it, there must have been like 30 security guys, who broke it up and kicked about 5 people out.

So my question is where the fuck was the security for this guy?? mad
And I don't know why he had a pregnant woman and a disabled kid at a Korn show anyway, that was pretty stupid... and he shouldn't have had a fight should have just walked away.

Not saying it's his fault, but he should have used some common sense if there wasn't much security.

Ditto...still, though, those scumbags who attacked him should have known better. I wonder if the band knows about this.
