Two Films I Wanna See Today Got Dreadful Reviews Miami Vice
and Scoop Throwing caution to the wind, which should I go to see first? Scoop got slightly better reviews although half the reason I wanted to go was Scarlett and the reviewer said she was bad. It's hard for me to believe Michael Mann made a truly bad film.

Nice choices. I've always liked both Woody's and Michael Mann's work, and I'm sure the new Miami Vice has a classy and at the same time gritty feeling, just like it should. I'm not exactly a huge fan of Farrell though. Let's hope he hasn't sunk the whole thing.

I'm actually more worried about Jamie Foxx. I don't like him and if he plays this wrong, it could be like Bad Boys.

I'm actually more worried about Jamie Foxx. I don't like him and if he plays this wrong, it could be like Bad Boys. I don't think he'll goof it up. But I think I know what you mean; he probably won't be able to give as much weight to his character as Denzel Washington gave to his in Training Day for example. What amazes me is that they overlooked Jason Patric when they were casting for the Sonny character. He's basically played the exact right type with great success in both Rush and Narc. Maybe that's why they ignored him; they felt he was overexposed. .

I don't know if I've seen him in anything else, though.

Cool. Rotten Tomatoes has them both at roughly 50%. [Edited 7/28/06 7:10am]

The ones I've seen seem to be 2-2.5 stars (outta 4). It looks very schticky (more from the Small Time Crooks side of the Woodman's oeuvre than the Crimes & Misdemeanors one). That said, I'll be seeing it tonight.

As much as I still get a kick out of things like Love & Death, I prefer the more weighty Wood Man. I did like Manhattan Murdery Mystery, though.
There's always something I enjoy in every Woody, but that ranks near the bottom for me.

Moderator | I wanted to see Scoop, guess I'll wait for the dvd. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |
