Since I'm moving out of my apartment I had to get rid of everything, and everything in this case was quite a lot! Japanese apartments don't come furnished at all so I had bought my own stove, washer, fridge, light fixtures, curtains, everything. Since I had very little time to get rid of it all I set what I thought was a low price for items that are only a few months old, namely 40% of the original purchase price.

Some people thought it sounded cheap while others thought it was way too expensive, percentagewise. How much would you have charged? And what's the cheapest and most expensive price respectively that you've ever sold a used item for? If you have any stories about buying used stuff, feel free to share those too.

When buying or selling something is't a known fact that when you want to buy the item is gold, but when it comes to sell, the item has truned to a pile o shit.

You have to thearfore realize althought this pile of shit is not worth keeping, someone would be willing to buy it as a piece of gold.

What I do is sell my items on ebay. That's what is best for quick sells, but not that great for biggest money your way.

Yeah, but that someone rarely shows up. I still have a car in Vancouver that is in great condition but virtually impossible to sell, even after I've steadily lowered the price for at least ten months! Some people recommended that I put it on Craig's List rather than E-bay but that hasn't helped either.

So how much would you charge, percentagewise of the original price, if the item was 6 months to a year old and pretty much in the same condition as when it was new?

I put my acoustic guitar in the trading post for $150 (which was what it was worth) but the lady who bought it for her daugter thought I must not know what I was doing and gave me an extra $100

I have done something similar in the past for friends that undercharge, but $100? To a stranger? That's a shitload of money...

I've gotten rid of pretty much everything now except the stove and a microwave. I even lucked out and managed to sell the washer and the fridge, two items that people usually have already unless they are moving into a new apartment right there and then. I'm becoming quite a slick salesman.

I still have a whole friggin' car in Vancouver though. Any takers? Special price, just for you orgers.
