What a coinicidence. Back in Detroit, Jack and I also worked together delivering packages for UPS. It was our first summer job. You could say White got his start with Brown.

I heard a couple of songs by this artist Utada Hikaru and just went nuts, downloading all the albums with bitcomet, downloading every wallpaper I could find, attaching album cover pics to each album folder, making her my avatar and my profile pic, thoroughly reading her bio on wikipedia, and even finding out how much money she makes (she was Japan's highest paid entertainer last year, which is important in case she should ever meet me, fall in love and demand we marry - she'd have to keep me in tea, after all). I then listened to the albums and realised that 95% of it is utter crap! lol

Now I have taken the best tracks from all the albums and put them in one folder. There are only about 5 songs. However, I still thinks she's very cute and has a nice voice. smile

lol sounds like something I'd do! lol

Sorry she sucked though...

My little Hikki does NOT suck! mad

Just most of her music, and I should point out that the new album is good. I think she's growing as an artist. nod shrug

So far! mad And in truth it's more like 6 or 7.

I'm sure she has a bright future ahead of her as a recording artist and later as Mrs. Fauxie. nod

Actually, right now I'm listening to her 2004 English language crossover attempt flop and I'm finding myself liking more tracks. I think I'm just in this electronic pop mood right now or something because normally I wouldn't go for this stuff. Either that or it's something to do with looking at my desktop pic of her while I listen. shrug

Let's just say it may be influencing me somewhat, although honestly I'm starting to warm to a lot of the tracks. I think she could actually do something in the US if she had some decent producers (one jam & lewis track is rather disappointing) who really played to her strengths. She has a very nice voice, is fluent in English (was born in the US), looks the part, and can play too. It's a shame Asian artists can't cross over easily. She did work with Timbaland on one track for a movie but I don't think it did much.

Hard to say. The English language album Exodus and earlier stuff is mainly mainstream RnB Timbaland type beats and dance music. I like the style of the latest album, Ultra Blue. 'Passion' is the track they occasionally play on MTV at the moment. There was a track a couple of years ago called 'Easy Breezy' that surprisingly they actually played quite a lot on MTV and VH1, but that's just a quirky pop song. Get 'Passion' or 'Keep Tryin'' as they're fairly representative of her style at the moment. You'll probably laugh. I haven't been able to put my finger on exactly what it is I like about the music yet. As I said, it's so far from my usual fare, but I think it centres around the vocals and interesting melodies. I have this funny feeling it's just what I need right now a bit like Seal's last album was just what I needed at that time, if that makes any sense.
