I save alot of messages from my friends because they're so stupid they make me crack up when I listen to them again. Like, hardly anyone other than work related can leave a serious message.

My mic is broken, otherwise I would post them here.

There's a free service called GotVoice that will automatically login to your voicemail, and record the messages, and make them available as downloadable mp3s from their site.

I think their free version only allows like 4 voicemails per day, and they offer a paid version that allows you more.

I'm going to post some of the stupid voicemails I get in the next few days.

No one I know leaves messages, like, ever. Although once upon a time I used to get them from darin. I think my favorite was when we were supposed to go see Prince at the Mill City Music Festival and my roommate and I were hungover and sleeping all day and he called like, 13 times trying to wake us and finally left 'How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore' on there with a properly bitchy intro and someone singing along in the background.
I saved that message for years.

Yeah, one of my friends likes to leave me voicemails in Cookie Monster's voice, so I've got a couple of those saved right now, and Martin left me one recently pretending to be the devil. . . very enjoyable. . . I love my friends.

i had a friend in new york who used to send me voicemails pretending to be janis joplin. "HEY MAN, THIS IS JANIS, PICK UP, MAAAN!!!"

at 7am on a saturday morning.

Random thought: I have a friend who leaves great outgoing voicemail messages, so all the messages she ever gets from me are of me laughing my ass off. Most recently was, "If this is an emergency, please hang up and dial 911. Otherwise, for a good time, leave a message." Before that it was, "I'm sorry, the number you've reached has been disconnected. . ." . It's always something.
