See, lunchtime I totally have lunch alone (I need my away space at work). I'm the same. I like to have the occasional lunch with a colleague but I spend all day talking to clients and customers - it's nice to have a bit of peace and quiet. Plus, I work in an open-plan office - definitely nice to have some space after being in here all morning. This may sound anti-social but I never spend my breaks or lunches in the staff room - there's nothing worse than trying to read or eat something then mid sentence/bite someone tries to talk to you about work. Go away!

The only time I have lunch w/ someone is when I schedule it w/ a friend & they come to my job. If one of my bitch ass coworkers asked me to lunch I'd be so mad for having to figure out a way to weasel out of it
No problem eating alone, though I've never done dinner alone (it's kinda like the movie thing) unless I'm on a trip or working late. I've taken myself to breakfast - just a magazine, an omlet & a mimosa... it was divine I have a friend who thinks it's downright sad for anyone to eat alone, she actually feels sorry for them which I think is SO strange But I think she's actually a person who has difficulty being alone for any period of time, which I think is sad

I'd already spent 4 hours talking about my life story and there'd always be someone who'd say 'No, I'll come with you'. Give me a break! Even though I shouldn't worry about what others think, I think I would feel uncomfortable going to a restaurant by myself. I'd just feel a little like Billy No Mates. Same reason why I don't like going to the cinema by myself. (And I think of the cinema as a communal experience). But I know a few people who like to do this ; in fact, they reckon it helps them concentrate better.
