Pirates of the Carribean II

Has anyone seen the new Pirates of the Carribean movie yet? I was wondering if anyone had a review/opinion on it. I will admit I plan on seeing it and I'm sure I'll love it as I have a thing for pirates and Johnny Depp. So when you combine the two - HELLO NURSE!! wink

Johnny Depp is a tasty dish.

Just got through seeing it...I think it's trying to be to the first "Pirates" what "The Empire Strikes Back" was to the first 'Star Wars" (only not nearly as good, obviously..lol)...that is, a bridge movie with lots of storylines left open. I actually liked it a lot more than I thought I would after reading a few reviews. Nice little twist at the end, too...nothing big, though.

All in all it's decent, mindless entertainment... nod

I'm going to go see it tomorrow. So excited! woot!

Also, don't tell Disney, but if it was up to me the movie'd end in a big crazy threesome between Capt. Jack, Will, and Elizabeth. 3some Avast!

I really enjoyed the new Pirates movie.

Johnny Depp is great (again) in it, and the other characters have a lot more to
do as well. As before he gets some great moments and lines (though they did
put a couple of his best lines in the trailer). Jack Davenport's (ex)commodore
Norrigton was a great little character arc, and let's just say that 'Miss Swann'
gets to show her darker side a bit in this one.

It is a little on the long side, and is a bit like seeing the 'directors cut'
of the movie, without ever seeing the original shorter version. All in all very
enjoyable, though it's annoying that we've go to wait until next May for the
concluding part - "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End".

Me too for the most part. They disnified it a little too much with the improbable mishaps and the corny part with Elizabeth watching the men fight. Like you said earlier, though it was decent mindless entertainment which is all I was expecting.

I also thought Naomie Harris' character was intriguing, and I'm guessing
(and hoping) she plays a big part in the next movie (listen carefully to what
she says, and notice the locket in her possession... and who else has one
similar... I'll say no more as I don't wanna enter spoiler territory).

Having the undead monkey was a nice nod to the extra scene at the end of
the first movie. And for those that didn't know, there's a similar extra
scene tagged on after the credits of this one too (nothing essential though,
so I wouldn't worry too much about sitting through the credits just to see it).

Does anyone find Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley to be totally superfluous to the these films? I just imagine Disney saying Johnny Depp has never had a blockbuster, so let's get some pretty young actors to help bring in the kids.

Meanwhile, they're window dressing, Depp gets Oscar-nominated and I couldn't care less about anyone besides Jack Sparrow.

Yes, they were criticised for their fake relationship bullshit.

I loved it! clapping Better than the first, and somehow, the screenwriters made Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom interesting. Unbelievable.

Saw it. Loved it. So seeing it again. And again.

Long ass movie, but it's so much fun it doesn't seem nearly like almost 2 1/2 hours. Just as entertaining as the first one, and Keira's and Orlando's characters are actually likeable here too. Plus -ho yay! -Bloom got whipped. Literally. whip

I still say there shoulda been some crazy threesome action. Let's hope for it in the director's cut, eh? horny

I saw it last night and really enjoyed it.

It was definately darker and grosser than the original.

I need to see it again though, when we got there most of the seats were filled so we had to sit way up front and for me that's almost like having an obscurred view so I feel like I missed parts of it because the view was off.

OMG! I grew up going to Disneyland 2-3 times during the summer when I was a kid, so when they went into the Bayou I seriously got chills! It was so much like the ride!

woot!
I'm firmly planted in denial
