nay, I'll watch her show once iin a while, if there's a topic I'm interested in, but I really don't like her persona at all. "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"-Dr Seuss

1986 - 1992ish (whenever she transferred weight form her tummy to her head): YAY
1992 - 2002ish (when she become far too preachy and moralistic): NAY 2002 - 2004 (when her show became a little more fun and - though she'd never admit it - trashy): YAY 2004 - post 50-years-old (when she began to see herself as the most fabulous influential woman ever and catered more than ever to suburbia rather than the general public): big farkin' NAY In a few years, I'll likely support her again. Maybe when she's 60, saggy, single and wearing flats.

Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

YAY:
She's worked hard, she's smart and confident, and she gives away her money to good causes. She's not out there trying to date everybody's husband or create a huge social scene for herself: she understands the bigger concepts in life, IMO.

Who cares? Either way she has made history as being the most successful woman in talk show entertainment. BTW: YAY ... I think she can be an inspiration because she has achieved so much in the midst of so many obstacles, and at times she will talk about some important issues. NAY ... I can't stand it when her kiss-her-butt audience members agree with and applaud practically everything she says. They treat her like she's some kind of god. It really annoys me!

YAY- in the sense that from the stories she's told how thingz were in her past and to think she has come a long way and can manage to be so generous- that'z great.
NAY- in the sense that- do you see the audience...it'z like a mothers club, I dunno! And then my nana just thinkz everything she sayz is be-all and end-all. It caters to those (at least in my mind- unless it's proved otherwise which is fine) who are not exposed to what other ideas and points of views on different topics, issues, books whatever and kinda just have her or other commercial tv program hosts or hostesses which determine what 'the thought of the moment' is gonna be. That's all. Yes, watch n listen to Oprah, but i hope you cultivated your own ideas and interventions outside of this program. Cause sometimez i think maybe some people don't (by the wide eyed lookz on the audience's faces that is)... No hablo espanol,no!
Pero hablo ingles..ssii muy muy bien... "Come into my world..." Missy Quote of da Month: "yeah, sure, that's cool...wait WHAT?! "

I like how her company is called Harpo. If you spelled my name backwards, you would only get Luap, which is not nearly as cool as Harpo. So, she wins.

Shes okay now, shes more calm and self-assured, but back in the 90s i couldnt stand her. The show was all touchy feely, finding yourself dribble. Once a week O was talking bout something personal and how you had to claim it and 12 step this and that blah blah blah.
It was just way too preachy for my taste. I dont watch her much today but ever once in a while I'll see a late night repeat and shes just seems more relaxed and easy going. And with the the Frey scandal, when you really dig into the issue at hand, it had more to do with what the Publishing House wanted to do with the book, than Frey himself. He submitted the book as a work of fiction first time around, only after at the Companys urging did he make it a Memoir. Oprah did fry his ass on TV, though i do think it was to hold on to her fan base not cause she thought the book was word for word the honest truth. At the same time Frey couldnt say anything cause the Publishing House had contracts on his next couple of releases, so Fey took the brunt of the storm hoping to still have his future books published. Unfortunatly He was dropped soon after. So dont blame Frey, Blame the Company. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

She's all good because I cannot like someone who has never physically, mental, or emotionally harmed me.
I've been in her audience twice, once was on November 20, 1996. Thanks Samnation we Prince fans got off that morning and that night at little club called the Park West. Oprah's show is so much better than Jerry Springer and Jenny Jones. When I was in the JS and JJ audiences we were coached on how to respond (e.g.,"Ooohh," "Ahhh," "Slap that HO!") to egg the guest on. Evil begets evil. Oprah would be my supergirl friend if her Human Resources Director Susan Nash would hire my ass. Or if I am a guest on "Oprah's Favorite Things" show. I need a good $5000 worth of presents to giveaway for Christmas this year.

She has this annoying habit of feigning ignorance in order to get an interviewee to talk further. It's a really lazy tactic and once you realise she's being disingenuous, it makes her appear false.

Same material, just presented in a different manner. It's all sensationalized. Suburban mothers on crack, suburban mother sex fiends, suburban teens gone wild - Oprah does it too, albeit with better set design.

Maybe it's that I don't catch her show, so I don't get it. But I have always thought of her as an American Icon of sorts. When all is said and done she has done a lot for people in general. Maybe not the greatest talk show host, but she isn't evil like she's made out to be.
Oprah..love her or hate her? NAY. I like Tyra's talkshow better. Because in the 90's, I thought Montell & Jenny were more interesting.
