The Return of My Sister, The Beast

my dad called me at work yesterday, and we got to chatting about how everybody's been doing...he mentioned that he had run into my sister, monica, who told 'im that she is planning on coming up here to minneapolis with a kids' dance troupe that she works with and was bugging 'im about where i live or how to get a hold of me while she's in town. my dad ended up totally lying to her about where i live n'such, which is smart because he knows that i cannot stand monica.

she's several years older than me and has been jealous/disdainful of me ever since the day i was born. all through my childhood we never hung out or anything like that, simply because she didn't want jackshit to do with me. she'd come over to my dad's house on the holidays and drop off cheap perfume and clothes n'such for me, but not a damned thing else. i lived at her house for a time a few years ago, and living there was hell--all she ever did was yell at me and expect me to go get a job while she sat around on her gargantuan butt all day and gossip on the phone about everyone and noone. she's one of the most conniving, nosy and loud-assed sistas you'd ever (not want to) meet. seriously.

recently she's been trying to get in touch with me via my father--asking 'im for my phone number, my address, my e-mail addy, all that. and i'm like "for what? she didn't want shit to do with me when i was a kid, why come after me now that i'm doing good?" i already know what shit she's gonna ask me about as it is: my salary. how much money i make. just being plain nosy for the sake of being nosy. i don't wanna hear that shit! GTFOOHWTBS, woman! talk to the hand

sorry that your sister is such a pain...it's also a shame your dad is in the middle...maybe she'll go back home sooner rather then later

Maybe she wants to appologize?

I know, that's probably not it. Girl, go do some laps and get her out of your head.

I see what you're saying, but do you think she just might want to mend the fences and have an actual relationship with you? Maybe she's feeling guilty for not treating you nicer growing up and she now wants to try to get closer to you. Maybe that's a real stretch, but think about it first.

I have one older sister. She's almost 7 years older than I am. I am so thankful for her. She's my best friend and we get along great. We do have our disagreements, but we always talk things through and try not to get too pissed with each other.

Good luck with things.

maybe you could ask your dad for her number. then call her from a restricted or private line. that way you'd be more in cntrol of the conversation. so if she starts with some crap you don't want to hear. you can hang up and she can't call you back. try to see wht she wants..if it's a reconciliation, maybe start a relationship, or something else. if not, either way you'll know. hang in there lady. hug

Tell your dad not to give out your phone number, address, email, etc.

I think you are happy with not having anything to do with her. If and when you are ready to have contact with her should be your decision.

All right, I'll say it. Hear her out.....she's your sister.

If you don't like what you hear, then tell her exactly how you feel. I'll be rootin' for ya.

ain't happening. my dad can't stand her either, so he definitely ain't gonna waltz up to her and ask for her number. every time he sees her around town and she comes up to talk to 'im, he tries his damndest to get the hell away from her as fast as humanly possible.

Its a shame she wasn't there for you as a child, children need to be cared for by the adults around them and when they grow up they remember these things.
The choice is yours in how you choose to deal with this but like somebody said, she may be trying to mend fences.

nope, it's not that at all--she treats both me and my brother the same way, as if we're stupid/mentally challenged or something. i dunno if it's because we're the youngest or what, but it's always been a fucked-up relationship for as long as i can remember.

and all this stuff about trying to mend fences and feeling guilty? naaaaan. she ain't felt guilty about jackshit, far as i know--the only person she really cares about is herself, unless you lend her some money or do something for her then she'll give half a shit about you. she's just a very, very toxic person and i cannot stand being around her at all.

well then trust your gut and stay away. like i said before toxic people are a headache and create a lot of stress. you don't need that.

Okay, because if that was why I wouldn't give her the time of day.

Perhaps you could tell her how you feel, she might be oblivious to it.
