out of all the clutter.. I'm sure we've got some really old stuff since some of us are not too fond of throwing things away so I'm going for a digital photograph of my grandmother from the 70's.. if I try to dig deeper I might find little things that were passed down such clothes or jewlery confused

I have an antique Bulova watch from the 1940's....still works!!

Very nice. smile I've got a 1964 Bulova Accutron Astronaut that still runs well within the original parameters. Not bad for a 42-year-old watch, especially considering that the "correct" mercury battery was banned in 1995, and since 2004, I've been forced to power it with a silver oxide battery that puts out a higher voltage.

I suppose the oldest thing(s) I own are crinoid stem fossils, probably 325 to 360 million years old. There's a city park in the neighborhood where I spent the majority of my childhood, and if you go down to the creek that serves as its eastern boundary, you'll find these fossils everywhere.

I have a Dutch coin from 1864 which i found myself in some mud from a dragged ditch.
Plus one of the first radio-receivers from Philips, which belonged to my grandfather, i think it's from the 1930s. I'm afraid to plug it in to see if it still works smile

I collect old books. Not just any books, but those that are a sign of the times, especially science books, travel journals and cook books. Some of my favourite ones are from the 1500s. I have a few really nice copies from the 1600s too.

my parents have some REALLY old books, but I was allowed to look at them when I was little, so they obviously weren't collectables hmmm there was an illustrated AESOPS FABLES in german I think.

They don't have to be collectibles or have any great monetary value. If they did, I wouldn't be able to buy them! I just love the look and the smell of old well-kept books. smile But mainly it is the contents that interests me, so since I can read a bit of German and the subject interests me, the fable book sounds very interesting. nod

lol A lot of book lovers would kill you for that. I however think that, as long as the book is still intact and nothing is falling out of it, such flaws are part of what makes it interesting. It is an object with a history, that's the whole point! One book I own has comments scribbled here and there by a former owner. Usually he seems to have felt compelled to comment when what was written made him upset, because the tone isn't exactly happy and every sentence ends with an exclamation mark. smile

I have a small silver brooch that belonged to my great great grandmother, my great great grandfather gave it to her when they were courting! I think thats sweet mushy

They were the first generation of my family that came over to Scotland from Ireland, and it has a thistle on one side and shamrock on the other, and "ALICE" in the middle - her name and mine biggrin Im the 6th Alice in a row! So its fitting I should have it. My aunt, the Alice directly before me gave me it for my 21st.

So its about...oh, 120 years old I think? nod Something like that...maybe a bit less. Very cool cool

I have an old sign with the Bavarian weapon on it, it says: 'Freistaat Bayern', I believe it's from early 20th century.
I also have an old beer mass-krug (1 liter), from the Augustiner brewery.....1940's

And I have german nazi-propaganda book about skiing from 1935, the literature is not so much about nazism but on the old pics the people are wearing swastika's on their garments....

I have a Dobo bronze doll and hair comb from Nigeria that are about two hundred years old. And I have a magazine that was printed in Tennesse circa 1880 I think. The article in this magazine describes American Indians in the wild. It is such a bunch of lies! Kind of like how they describe african slaves with appendages protruding from their spines! It is no wonder why folks have these crazy fucking ideas about people of color. lol
