I don't remember it well, but I was a VERY insecure child. Infinitely shy. I was going through things at my parents house a few years ago and came across some old school papers and things and found one where you had to fill in the blanks and one of the them was 'People will tell you that I am...' and I'd filled in 'ugly'. And another was 'I wish that I weren't...' and I'd filled in 'ugly'. I don't remember doing the paper, but when I saw it, I couldn't help but cry. I don't remember a lot of my childhood, but I couldn't help feel so sad for a child to feel that way. And that child was me. lol.
As for my priorities being straight now? I'm not sure they are yet. I still hold a lot of my self-worth and self confidence in my appearance. I don't think that will ever go away.

Thank you for your honesty. I think this is why we get along so well; being an outcast as a kid certainly breeds a certain adult, doesn't it?

I also was very aware that I was 'different' as a kid. People kept pouncing me and I was accutely aware I was not part of any 'clique'.

Children shunned me for coming from a hippie family in a village where appearance was everything. To escape the pressure laid on me by both family and village, I just retreated into my own fantasy world.

Even as an adult with lots of true friends, I would file myself under 'solitary person'; it's a heritage of feeling alone for so long.
