Yeah, there are times in our lives when we need some direction, comfort and solace. One song that has helped me deal with such a place recently is Nichole Nordeman's "Small Enough." Nordeman has built a career on writing songs that are irreverent, questioning and sophisticatedly sarcastic -- not your usual contemporary Christian model. She's also a poet capable of crafting wonderful phrases.

Nicole Nordeman
» Small Enough

Oh great God
Be small enough
To hear me now
There were times when I was crying
From the dark of Daniel’s den
I had asked you once or twice
If you would part the sea again
Tonight I do not need a
Fiery pillar in the sky
Just want to know you’re gonna
Hold me if I start to cry

Oh great God
Be small enough to hear me now
Oh great God
Be close enough to feel you now
(Oh great god be close to me)

There have been moments when I could not face
Goliath on my own
And how could I forget we marched
Around our share of Jerichos
But I will not be setting out
A fleece for you tonight
Just wanna know that everything will be alright
Oh great god be close enough to feel me now

All praise and all the honor be
To the god of ancient mysteries
Whose every sign and wonder
Turn the pages of our history
But tonight my heart is heavy
And I cannot keep from whispering this prayer
Are you there?

And I know you could leave writing
On the wall that’s just for me
Or send wisdom while I’m sleeping
Like in Solomon’s sweet dreams
But I don’t need the strength of Sampson
Or a chariot in the end
Just wanna know that you still know how many
Hairs are on my head
Oh great God (Are you small enough)
Be small enough to hear
Me now

No really I do! (Or do U think it's just the guy tryin to make me feel good!?!?!) eek

Dya remember this one? This just reminds me of when I was a lil girl in the 80's! biggrin

Paul Carrak Don't shed a tear 4 me.

Cab fare to nowhere is what you are
A white line to an exit sign is what you are
All that I saw in you
Now I see through

Chorus:
Don't shed a tear for me
My life won't end-without you
Long as the night will be
The sun will rise-without you

A locked door on a candy store is what you are
A slick chance in tight pants is what you are
All that I loved you for
I want it more

Chorus

You ain't givin'
Well, I'm not takin'
I'm not missin'
What we ain't makin'

All that I saw in you
Now I see through

Chorus 2X

Thank You by Led Zepplin

If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more.

Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by.
My love is strong, with you there is no wrong,
together we shall go until we die. My, my, my.
An inspiration is what you are to me, inspiration, look... see.

And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles,
Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one.
Happiness, no more be sad, happiness....I'm glad.
If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

This song makes me tear up every time.. I had a dear friend (Dan) that I loved very much. We went to Prom together and he would always play this song for me every time I got in his car.. Still reminds me of him. He was a sweetheart!

He was very sweet.. he had to move away after we graduated.I was heart broken. He emailed me last year- he is married with a small boy now. He sent me pics. I am sure he is a great husband and dad.
I currently have a friend that reminds me of Dan. Just the way he cares about me and helps me stay positive about myself. He has yet to dedicate a song to me though. sad

Lay Your Hands On Me Bon Jovi lyrics
Artist: Bon Jovi
Album: New Jersey
Year: 1988
Title: Lay Your Hands On Me

If you're ready, I'm willing and able
Help me lay my cards out on the table
You're mine and I'm yours for the taking
Right now the rules we made are meant for breaking

What you get ain't always what you see
But satisfaction's guaranteed
They say what you give is always what you need
So if you want me to lay my hands on you

Lay your hands on me, lay your hands on me, lay your hands on me
Lay your hands on me, lay your hands on me, lay your hands on me

Lay your hands on me

I'm a fighter, I'm a poet, I'm a preacher
I've been to school and baby, I've been the teacher
If you show me how to get up off the ground
I can show you how to fly and never ever come back down

Everything you want is what I need
Satisfaction's guaranteed
But the ride don't never ever come for free
If you want me to lay my hands on you

Lay your hands on me, lay your hands on me, lay your hands on me
Lay your hands on me, lay your hands on me, lay your hands on me

Lay your hands on me

Solo

Don't you know I only aim to please
If you want me to lay my hands on you

Lay your hands on me

I sure do.

Hello dear there somthin' on my mind
There somethin' between us I can't find
Can please please show me the light
Because with you I refuse to fight

It's cause you have a new girlfriend
She gives you better head then me
It's cause that guy that you hide
I heard he can make you scream

I guess I'm a shmo
You have better people to fuck then me
I guess that I'm the jerk
That lets you fuck who ever you please

We used to have such good times
You lay before me as I tell you my mind
I listen as you talk about some girl
You said some day she'd be your wife

I guess I'm a shmo
You have better people to fuck then me
I guess that I'm the jerk
That lets you fuck who ever you please

By the way Bitch! You kiss my god damn ass
Eat shit and die you dirty fuckin' slut
Fuck off you stupid fuckin' cunt
I hope you choke on toxicshock
You fuckin' Duchebag

Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Take me home

Just a' urchin
livin' under the street
I'm a hard case
that's tough to beat
I'm your charity case
So buy me somethin' to eat
I'll pay you at another time
Take it to the end of the line

Ragz to richez or so they say
Ya gotta-keep pushin'
for the fortune and fame
It's all a gamble
When it's just a game
Ya treat it like a capital crime
Everybody's doin' their time

[Chorus:]

Strapped in the chair
of the city's gas chamber
Why I'm here I can't quite remember
The surgeon general says
it's hazardous to breathe
I'd have another cigarette
but I can't see
Tell me who you're gonna believe

[Chorus]

So far away
So far away
So far away
So far away

Captain America's been torn apart
Now he's a court jester
with a broken heart
He said-
Turn me around and
take me back to the start
I must be losin' my mind-
"Are you blind?"
I've seen it all a million times

This song reminds me of flying back home to Maryland on summer break to see my dad when I was a teenager.

Now listen up
She's razor sharp
If she don't get her way
She'll slice you apart
Now she's a cool, cool black
Moves like a cat
If you don't get her game
You might not make it back

[Pre chorus:]
She's got the looks that kill
That kill
She's got the looks that kill
That kill

[Chorus:]
She's got the looks that kill
Now she's bulletproof
Keeps her motor clean
And believe me, you
She's a number thirteen
The church strikes midnight
She's lookin' louder and louder
She's gonna turn on our juice, boy
So she turns on the power

She's got the looks that kill

Takes me back to my Motley Crue lovin' days...
Ahh Nikki Sixx drool

when a loved one, or a friend, passes away, I listen to "Fountain of Sorrow", and
"For A Dancer" by Jackson Browne, and "I know you're out there" by the moody blues..
