I'm in the market for a place and possibly a change of scenery. Should I move to San Francisco with a friend? It's his latest idea(he comes up with a new place to move to every couple months).

What are the pros & cons?

where are you currently living?

san fran is pretty great, i loved visiting there, but i just think about stupid stuff like earthquakes... but then i live in oz where we don't really get any of that

I live in San Francisco.

Pros...The weather, The Food (It's so fresh), You can get to almost any climate you want within driving distance, Pot Friendly, Eco Conscious, If you want to go an artistic path...folks are very welcome to that and you can always find an audience for your art. All walks of life live here or pass through. Very gay friendly. ANything goes here...I almost have seen it all.

Cons...It's expensive. LOTS and I mean LOTS of homeless people, Can be difficult to get a job, Can be hard to make good long standing friends, Might be hard to date in this city if you are straight...although a cute, single straight guy is a hot commodity out here. Doesn't get hot that much int he summer. Don't really see the seasons change. Rains a lot in the winter. I would never buy a house here.

But I love it here and can't fathom leaving just yet. I produce music and there is an audience for it and I am trying to leave my mark and this seems like a good place to launch it.

I moved to San Francisco from Denver, and the experience was well worth it.

I love that place.

If you have a decent job, it's not THAT expensive. Yeah it's a jump from where you are, but most jobs compensate for the area. The biggest thing is rent. All else is usually the same as most major cities.

I would be renting; I am NOT in the market for owning any dwelling.

I love San Francisco but I could't live there. That's why I'm conveniently 42 miles away. I love to visit. I'm there practically 2 times a week.
