I actually live in one of the Cities named on the report
and I thank GOD they are banned. I haven't seen anyone out
wearing them, but have seen them sold at the local mall.

I wonder if they would be able to wear the Prince Earwraps.evillol

I don't see why they're being banned, really.

Yes, there are fewer people can pull off stretched lobes without looking silly than they think can, and yes, grills are fucking ugly. But since when is tacky grounds for being banned? Neither are sexually provocative. Neither advertise or glorify drugs, alcohol, or gangs.

For that matter -why is anything other than Junior Mormon Club gear deemed unprofessional in the workplace? Someone want to explain to me exactly how pink hair or a visible tattoo impedes one's work ethic or productivity? And since when does school prepare you for the real world, anyway? It's about the farthest thing from, if you ask me.

They don't, however, it would be very naive to think that customers and business relations (as a whole, not individuals) are just cool with it. They're not and until that changes things like grillz, visible tats/piercings and other things will not be tolerated at work. It's kinda like a vicious cycle...

Wouldn't a logical way to make things like these more socially acceptable to see them more often on "professionals"? Sure, some would balk at first, but after a while it wouldn't be any more strange than seeing a guy with an earring. It's 2006, people, and around a quarter of 18-30 year olds have a visibile mod. It's hardly a fringe idea or a way of rebelling anymore.

Can you imagine the number of bright, talented workers employers are going to be missing out on if they continue with the attitude that looking at all interesting (personal opinion on the attractiveness or tackiness of notwithstanding) is unprofessional? eek
