Ocean said: retina said: Well, what many sports photographers do is use an extremely fast shutter speed. This means that the camera registers very little movement but also very little light, so they usually have to compensate for that by using extremely lightsensitive film. Some digital cameras allow you to set both shutter speed and ASA (lightsensitivity), in which case you could figure out your own optimal setting. I experimented with that for fun recently and me and a friend took some pictures of each other jumping and made it look like we were hovering in the air, very much in focus. It was pretty cool (I believe the settings we used were 1/5000 of a second and 1600 ASA). If you want a simpler and cheaper camera, just look for one with an "action" setting as was previously mentioned on this thread.
Thanks hun .....what sort of price range would this sort of camera be in and can u recommend any? Sorry, no I can't. Every time people find out that I enjoy taking pictures they go "do you use a F5679xlr with zeiss lense and diffusion filter?" and I'm like: "no, I use a camera".

In what sense is it "the next model up" then? Just a higher price or what? and his action shot was really good, I saw it
Thanks! I was surprised how well it turned out since I just made up my own theory about how to do it - and later found out that that is actually the way to do it.
