Why...

If the average woman is five foot three (don't remember where I read that little bit of trivia, but anyway), and I am actually a whole quarter of an inch taller than the average female (lol), then why is it mass-produced pants are far too long for me? Department stores, Wal-Mart...doesn't matter where you get them. The average female height is "short" and clothes are made for supermodels. lol

No way, clothes AREN'T made for supermodels. I'm on the tall side & until recently I could never find pants long enough nod I think since everyone is wearing super high hooker heels nowadays the pants are getting longer shrug

Plus people on the shorter side have entire stores dedicated to them, or at least petite sections in many stores smile

Petite clothes are too long or they don't come in sizes small enough for me. I have the problem of fitting into children's clothing better than women's (and sometimes) junior's clothing because of my small frame, but the length on kid's pants is too short sometimes. Then I move up to junior's or women's and they're too long for me. I don't wear a large size for my height or anything, either...hmmm Maybe it's the places I look in. I don't know. But I have to wear heels with my pants. Not that I mind. lol

I can barely find them long enough either. I am quite tall, with long legs and I wear the super high hooker heels all the time.

It sucks.

hug OK that's two tall people who have problems finding clothing long enough for them. I think the problem is clothing is actually made for medium height people and they must be extinct now. falloff

EXACTLY. no WAY are the majority of pants long enough for us taller girls. disbelief The longest inseam I've found in a store is 34", and that's about an inch and a half too short for me.

Plus, you can always tailor pants to make them shorter...there's no way to make them longer.

Some clothes run small and some clothes run big. Some clothes just don't go well with certain people.(no offense) neutral

Now I'm remembering when I was in elementary school and I was always the tallest kid in my class. falloff That changed in about fifth grade, I guess. Till then, though, it was hard to find stuff long enough that wasn't too large. Oh the woes of being a human being who can't afford custom made clothing.

I've turned to the web - Delias & Alloy carry inseams @ 34", 35", 36" & 37" woot! Delias usually only goes to 34" but some styles come in 36" where Alloy has more variety w/ the inseams.

Also some styles of those overly expensive designer jeans are starting to come in 36" length...

Gap & Levi have some long styles too, but most places I literally cannot shop @ for pants pout

Exactly. I guess mass produced clothes aren't truly made to fit anyone. Kind of like pills ("if you live on the planet earth and breathe oxygen, you should not take this pill because you may have a bad reaction") aren't made to work for anyone. falloff

Don't laugh at yourself, U shop where U shop, who cares. smile Old Navy's jeans tend to be non model build and they also shrink a bit, and the cost is pretty low. Try that! wink

Unlike Prince, I don't wear 3" to 4" heels everyday to impress!! I must wear them so I don't have to quit my day job for mopping the floor!

Either I wear heels or spend a fortune on taking all of my jeans/slacks to the tailors!

Sorry, but not all pants are created equally -- not even for us shorties under 5'3".
