Whilst I don't mind goth ideology, I can't help but hate goth fashion not done properly.

Those are a nice, chunky heel. It's the stilettos that murder your ankles. |

I loves me some platform boots. I have five pairs. I wear 'em to work.

I don't know how you ladies do it I don't know how most ladies do it either. I have more than a couple pairs of shoes that I can't wear. But I LOVE them. But if I put them on and want to stand or walk for more than 20 minutes I am in unbearable pain. It's sooooo depressing. These are GORGEOUS shoes I'm talking about. Not cheap, either. And yet they just sit in my shoe rack. They are so lonely. But a nice chunky heel on a boot like the above? That's a piece of cake. Part of the allure of the impossible heels has quite the BDSM connotation in more ways than one. Sure, there's the look of the shoe, the way it makes the calf look, the way it thrusts your bottom out, etc. but there's also the pain involved in wearing them and the discipline it takes in learning how to walk in them. It's awfully freaky when you think about it. |

Moderator | I have boots like that. I rarely wear them though. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

I have a pair of tall boots like those too (small heel though) and I haven't worn them in years. I stopped wearing them to clubs because my other platform boots give me more height. And they're too tall to wear to work so they've been sitting in the back of my closet feeling very unloved. I recently watched NIN's "Closer" video again where Trent was rocking the tall boots and that inspired me to pull them out the next I go to the club. Even if it means I'll be a few inches shorter than usual.

My platforms are all 3.5"-4" so I prefer those. When you walk past those gravers in clubs with their damn 12" platform boots, you need to be as tall as possible.

Why is 6 foot the magic number? In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

I dunno, 6' just seems like a nice commanding height. 5'-anything sounds short to me. I don't feel confident walking into clubs without platforms on. They are my security blanket. Like Fonzie's leather jacket.

Gotta see over everyone's heads in front of me.

Gotta see over everyone's heads in front of me. I can NEVER see at concerts! It's terrible!!!! I'm like 5'2. The worst was at Tool a while ago, I didn't see ANYTHING the whole time... I could hardly even see the artwork on the giant ass screens! My bf is a little over 6 foot and he couldn't see that well either, but at least he saw the artwork! I guess it was the venue. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

I'm not keen. It's fair bet that I could fit my whole body into one of those. Why are Goths som miserable looking? Is everything so bleak as they make it out to be?
