Doctor Who, Series 2 Finale

Did anybody watch this, yesterday? I cried for about an hour after it ended. It was unbelievably sad. sad

There have been some pretty cacka episodes this season, but last night's episode cancelled all the shitty stuff out.

There was a lovely shot of David Tennant's derriere too.

I've re-watched it about ten times and it still chokes me up every time. It's that music in the background - it's so haunting.

No, which was a real cop out. The Doctor left her and her mother in a parallel universe Earth that she could never get out of. So she's gone back to her day job and everything and can never see the Doctor again.

God, I'm glad I didn't see it now. However, it does leave her handy for a return if her replacement is shit!

Well, not exactly her day job... She's working for Alt-Torchwood. You think she won't be eyeing every bit of 'alien tech' that comes through the door to see if it can help her get back to the Doc? lol

I thought it was *sooooo* sad at the end. Of course, I just love Rose. I think she's 2nd only to Sarah-Jane Smith as far as companions go. The episode itself was pretty spectacular, IMO.

...and some of the dialogue, especially from the Daleks was just wonderful:
"This is not war, this is pest control."

"You are only superior at one thing - you are better at dying."

Oh, and poor Yvonne... I liked her, even if she wasn't an especially likable character.

As far as series 2 as a whole, though... I thought it was pretty darn good. In fact, I thought they were all great but for two - Fear Her (which just went nowhere fast, imo - but it replaced another story at the last minute, I guess we can see why it didn't make top choice) and Love & Monsters (but the saving grace there was Moaning Myrtle!). Overall, I thought it was more consistent than S1.

Is it just me or does the last few minutes have a very "28 Days Later" feel to it?

I'm happy to see they added this picture to the gallery. It wasn't there originally. The BBC has a bad habit of adding/removing pics from week to week. If you don't snatch them all up as soon as they appear then the following week some of them will be missing and replaced.

Thats a great picture, it was a tear jerker thats for sure. Rose has been my favourite companion of the Doctor ever, Billie Piper owned that role.

Me too! CE was just too 'bi-polar' in the role.

I enjoyed CE as well, but yeah...David is better in the role, in my opinion.

Does Series 2 refer to a second series of David Tennant as the Doctor OR the series AFTER Christopher Eccleston's?

They make a series a year (13 episodes plus a bonus xmas episode). Series 2 just ended.

I only wish the DW series on DVD would cost as much as a season and NOT what you'd normally think of as a series (the whole entire run of a show). For only 13 episodes, it's way overpriced here.

Yup, I was surprised it wasn't a tad cheaper... I was expecting around $49 USD. Otoh, I suppose they know that they're not going to sell boxload after boxload. The average US audience is only something like 1.2 million, I think, so they're trying to make as much as they can from those who will fork it over.
