Question for the Gay Dudes. Okay, so I'm sure y'all have your opinions on Fruit Fly's. And I'm sure y'all have like a theory or something on them.
What is it? | |

So Anx, you don't have a theory on like WHY these women prefer to surround themselves w/only Homo's. Do U think they have issue's with trusting straight men, or anything?

So Anx, you don't have a theory on like WHY these women prefer to surround themselves w/only Homo's. Do U think they have issue's with trusting straight men, or anything? well, as i understand it, there are two categories: "fruit flies" are women who are in relationships with straight men or who are married - in other words, they got a man or they can get one - and they just dig being around gay guys because they don't have to worry about sexual tension, or because they like gay culture, or whatever. then there are "fag hags", who tend NOT to look for heterosexual male partners and surround themselves with gay men as kind of surrogate love objects, if that makes sense. i think women and gay men gravitate toward each other because there's no reason to be anyone but yourself in these friendships.

Thanks Anx.
So what about women who are always attracted to men who TURN OUT to be gay?

And Anx, what is syntax?

I'd agree, except sometimes fruit flies just plain don't have a man. eh, I don't know how it happened. I fell into a group of friends many years back with whom I had lots in common. The vast majority of the men happened to be gay. Now, they're all just my friends/chosen family. I don't know how it happened. It just did. |

I've worked with a few fag hags or whatever you want to call it and while I was friends with them, they didn't seem very happy. They usually just bitched about men/their lives.

I can't speak for Carrie, but I never really vent about guy stuff to my gay friends. We just have a good time together!

I've struggled with depression my entire life, but I'd say when I started making these friends was one of the happier times of my life. I really met them all because of parties and dance clubs and musical interests in common. No lie. I think all but one of my current close friends I met out at a club or at a party. Now, I will say that through most of my early 20's I didn't have much interest in long term relationships with straight men. My heart was broken (really, really bad) when I was 18 and I just never wanted to go through that again. I had dates and flings here and there, but that was about it. But I was certainly never part of the cursing men forever crowd. I've known women like that, but that was never really me. |

So what about women who are always attracted to men who TURN OUT to be gay? Those are the fag hag kind. They are initially turned on by how gay men look and act. I think it's more of fooling themselves...IMO. If they didn't want to be attracted to men who turn out to be gay, they need to find a different gay bar to have drinks in then.
