It was so bloody small that I could barely see what was going on and since it just kept getting smaller I almost bumped my nose against the screen. smile

I must say that the acting was pretty dodgy and the "special effect" didn't add anything, but the editing was very slick and I liked the angles.

So what was it about? He woke up the next morning after having murdered a woman but could barely recall what had happened, correct?

this short is meant to be an art piece, not a regular narrative film.

it's about the viewer trying to be concerned about figuring out what is going on in the "movie", but also becoming disoriented and reoriented by it's context or venue of presentation, and slowly as the clues and context changes, trying to to construct logic.... and this action (what is going on in the viewer's head) forming a pattern like a slow spiral outward like a snail.(shell).

This pattern of slowly putting the pieces together is also mirrored in the exaggarated manner of an old silent film with the character in the black and white "Movie" within the video.

It's a way to guage how your pattern of thinking works, for example, you ignored the context (effects), and looked at the black&white "movie" as the content, and then formed story to put sense to the images. Whereas some viewers are more interested in the fact that at the end it sounds like a disinterested girl is running some old film on her laptop and try to form meaning as to how she relates to the content of the movie.

of course you said the movie was little, and also didn't make mention of the sound... you might have viewed a small version? The actual piece is on dvd, and will actually be screened on a full cinema screen in the movie auditorium of the Houston Museum of Fine Arts next wednesday. It will be very interesting to see an audience reaction to it on a big screen, trying to figure it out.

Yeah, well that's because you said you had recycled it by adding special effects, i.e. the original movie was not made that way. I'm always interested in the original ideas, especially when they're fresh out of somebody's head and a bit unpolished like this one, so that's what I chose to watch.

Cool! It is very difficult to find a good way to get short films to the audience and venues such as the one you mentioned are very rare. Congratulations for getting it screened there.

I filmed the original 16mm B & W film with a Korean War era WINDUP camera that didn't even have a reflex viewfinder... it was a regular viewfinder that was off from the lens. In camera editing.

I filmed it in 1992, casting my college roommate and his girlfriend at the time.
