Welp, I made the first step today...

I applied for a new job at Harvard University. I would be crazy if I didn't...it's part time 12-5 Monday-Thursday, 12-4 on Fridays. And the best part...the pay is the same I'm making working full time at Brown! I am very, very nervous about the thought of leaving my safe secure job, and moving to Boston but I've wanted it for a long time. I have an "in" at Harvard, he's a dean that left Brown and he emailed me today and is going to personally deliver my resume to the woman who hires for Faculty Assistants...which is the position I'm applying for. I can still bartend at night with these hours and won't feel stuck in the office all day, while still getting full benefits and decent pay.

God I think I'm gonna throw up!! I'm soooo friggin nervous!! If anyone has any advice/tips/suggestions please throw them out to me. I'm a horrible interviewer because I'm so insecure.

AHHHHH!!!!!

make sure you give a lot of eye contact when you answer questions and way before the interview do some research on the position and the school so you'll show you did you homework on the institution if you havent already.

First off, have sex the night before. thumbs up! That will kill the nerves. lol Find out as much as you can about the interviewers that way it will feel like you are talking with old friends. If you can get your buddy to give you a tour and just happen to pass by her office or get introduced to her that way you will get a feel for her. Find out as much as you can about the school just in case they ask you history about the place. I put on your most comfortable suit and shoes. If your feet feels good then you will be good. I am sure you know your stuff with your job so you are good to go! We are going to pray that you calm down and blow them away at this interview. But the sex, part truly does wonders! lol

You need to get a suit....seriously. But make sure you get one that shows your personality....it can be done!

I'll send you an org note on interviewing tips. The best advice is to just relax and be yourself - no pretention, no games, no facade. I worked for an executive search firm for a few years in marketing research.....

You will be just fine.....life is too short to stagnate....and Boston is a great town.

Carpe Diem!
