I just found out today that pineapples are currently 5 baht each at my local market! That's only 13 cents each!



I have several now and I've already eaten one whole one tonight. Anybody want one?

They cost about $3-4 each here.

I hate pineapples. Ugh. They're disgusting. Keep them.

Yeah, in the UK they're pretty expensive. At least, they were last time I was there. Here they're not normally as cheap as this, but I guess they're in season? It's great! Steal mangoes from the tree next door that branches out right next to our window, and buy pineapples for 5 baht each! Life could not be any better, unless I had a job, some money and some genuine career prospects.

Fresh pineapple makes my mouth feel funny.

I can kill a whole big papaya though, easy...

I just bought one for $2! Don't eat too many or the inside of your mouth will get all raw from the enzymes.

Pineapples are believed to make you horny, contain lots of enzymes ( bromelain), vitamin C, help your metabolism and digestion and are much better when fresh ( so forget those canned pineapples).

They cost 1.50-2.00 Euro over here, and I love them.

I also used to eat tons of them in Bangkok.


Right now I´m eating a giant watermelon, icecold....almost no vitamins at all, but
tasty nevertheless.

wtf? They look nothing like papaya or mangoes here. Both are typically green, but then I do tend to go for sour mango so I guess that's the difference in colour. We have papaya shredded in spicy salad and it's green. We also have green mango dipped in a mix of sugar and chili.

Wally's... hmmm... I don't think I have. Only guesthouses I've stayed at on KSR are Siam Oriental, Khao San Palace and Lek Guesthouse.

When were you in Bangkok? KSR has changed massively in the last couple of years. They repaved the road and Buddy's is now a big hotel/bar/restaurant and shopping complex. Gullivers has a second floor now too. Even round by the temple it's been smartened up a bit and small guesthouses (especially Mango) have been torn down and replace by nice ones charging 500+ baht a night.
