I love to cook everything from scratch, I'm not real crazy about processed food. So I buy alot of basic ingredients so I always have them on hand to make whatever I'm in the mood for. I buy the big packs of chicken breats, pork, beef, etc... then seperate em all into smaller amounts and load my freezer up. Fresh things like tomatoes, peppers, romaine lettuce, banannas. etc...I go every couple of days to get, and only grab what I need. I like buying the bakery breads, and gourmet cheeses as well. They may cost a little more but it makes a huge difference as opposed to those kraft slices and wonder bread. I try to get alot of basic stuff that I can make as many different things from as possible.

Good ideas! Apart from the fact a cupboard full of food just looks nice, it's always great to have the choice to make whatever you want when you get in. And I agree with you on the bread/cheese thing - I'd much rather pay that little bit extra and have better quality food. Even as a student I made sure I ate well. When most people were eating beans on toast, I was eating steak. No wonder I was broke. I just love my food.
