Yes, I dont think theyre meant to be worn, but just self indulgent expressions of creativity and they might be mocked for it but fashion designers are arteeests baby! talk to the hand

Precisely. Those garments are conceptual pieces that aren't reeeeaaallly meant to be worn. And it actually crosses over a bit into high fashion editorial shoots as well (in mags like Vogue, Elle, certain editions of Marie Claire, etc.,) What people don't realize is that the majority of what we shoot for magazines on that tier is really just a mastabatory, self indulgent exercise in creativity to show off amongst our piers within the industry. No one's actually expecting you to WEAR the things as we combine them, which is why it's always very disheartening for me to see people copy looks directly from editorial spreads as we coordinate them. Ideally, what we're really hoping when we kind of step outside of our VERY limited view of reality and creativity is that a person might see a photo and get inspired by say, ONE piece, and then make it their own, in their with their own personal expression and sense of style.

there's a difference between haute couture, first line, and second line.

most people create the crazy stuff in the first photos as art, as centerpieces of a sort. they gather attention, they showcase artistic vision. unless you're cher, it doesn't get worn.

and galiano is absolute genius.
