Dating models!

So... is it wrong if I browse model agencies' webpages, pick up a girl I like, then book a photosession with her and arrange a fake one - just so that I can be close to models?

What about browsing the webpages and looking up their contact information from a phonebook. Then waiting outside their houses in the bushes, following them for (say) for a day or two - just to find out if they have boyfriends - and then approaching them?

Why approach? Jump and grab is way sexier.

Altough maybe I shouldn't be so willing to play their game. I only wish women would get rid of their attitudes and stalk the man for a change. But unfortunately most women are still stuck to the 50s and 60s and expect the man to do all the stalking.

Btw, I didn't mean that I thought you haven't dated models.

I was laughing at your blanket statement that people who do that for a living have "issues" and are "overrated".

yeah, i know... it was a blanket statement, but it's usually true... i know there are there are some fine and intelligent ones too, but the industry is so wrong with the ways it treats unsuspecting girls that a lot of them end up messed up... the most image-conscious industry in the world doesn't provide for a lot of job satisfaction, except getting paid for a pretty face, know what i mean?

my ex was a model for a short period and travelled to exotic places... every single photographer was a sleaze and most of the affiliates were sleazes... there can be a very sick side to a lot of it, present jokes on this thread aside.

No, you don't want that. It's not nearly as enjoyable as you might think it would be.

I saw it. People can mock me all they want but it's true. Women are still stuck in the past when it comes to this stuff.

It'll never work.

To begin with, the average model's day rate at a nationally/internationally reputable agency STARTS at $1500-$2000. That's what is paid for catalog girls who do stuff like TARGET.Girls who do uppper tier catalog like Nordstrom or Neiman market are in the $3000-$4000 per day range. So you can imagine what is costs to get a more famous face.

Editorial naturally, is less...for everyone. Usually under $300 per day...but if they haven't "seen" your magazine before, guess what? No booking.

Advertising for a major product? Forget it. Depending on how luxurious the product is you're talking upwards of $8,000 a day.

You could say that you're a testing photographer looking for girls in the new faces department, but unless they've gone in for a meeting with director of new faces, and they've seen and approved your portfolio, or you used to be the assistant of an internationally known photogrpher, or a photogrpaher that has been on their client roster---PFFFFTTT! lol lol ...oh did I mention that you will actually be responsible for going in to meet the agent to show them the testing photographs for the girl's portfolio and the agency's website?

Not to mention that you as the "client" are responsible for the transportation, meals, and lodging for the model the MOMENT they leave their abode to get to the job and their return transportation once the production is completed...

...then of course there are the small details the agent will enter into your "client" file such as the production, location, ad agency or art direstor, the product the day rate AND your BILLING INFORMATION.

...and don't think for a second that these people are that stupid...not even the models themselves. The world of fashion is a VERY small one and the girls are very well versed in what is a proper shoot, or simply disaster shoot where people simply have no idea what they're doing, and lastly what is a COMPLETE SHAM. Agents are on the phone with their talent the moment they arrive at a job and throughout the day to make sure things are going smoothly. It only takes a second for bad feelings to erupt and suddenly have a phone war happening in the middle of a real shoot...let alone what they would do once they figure out that you've tried to bullshit them wink

In a nutshell: not a very good idea. Try some happening nightspots or beach bars known to cater to fashionistas instead. You'll have better luck .

Interesting note about your ex's experiences... there are bad apples in every bunch, and that business can be kind of brutal, but you'd be surprised how many of them are people with families and normal lives (well at least as normal as it can be when you have to work 25 days out of the month). What kind of modeling did your ex specialize in, btw? in the editorial (i.e. fashion magazine) scene, is indeed very rock & roll -like in experience, but I can't imagine a model experiencing that when she's doing catalog or lifestyle advertising; there are always company executives present from the client that lend a very conservative atmosphere to the working process.

Actually, this is a kind of interesting concept to me: what exactly is it that a person's looking for that makes them want to date a model? I mean, wouldn't a bank teller or a kindergarden teacher be just as cool, as long as she had whatever physical attributes that were of your preference lol ?

Now but that would be completely missing the point. I mean, I can fully imagine myself finding happiness from all kinds of things in my life - finding beauty in the more subtle shades, becoming more mature and developing and aesthetic eye for something more than just blunt attractiveness - but what I am really trying to say here is that I want happiness with A MODEL.
