my ex was a model for a short period and travelled to exotic places... every single photographer was a sleaze and most of the affiliates were sleazes... there can be a very sick side to a lot of it, present jokes on this thread aside.

To begin with, the average model's day rate at a nationally/internationally reputable agency STARTS at $1500-$2000. That's what is paid for catalog girls who do stuff like TARGET.Girls who do uppper tier catalog like Nordstrom or Neiman market are in the $3000-$4000 per day range. So you can imagine what is costs to get a more famous face.

Editorial naturally, is less...for everyone. Usually under $300 per day...but if they haven't "seen" your magazine before, guess what? No booking.

Advertising for a major product? Forget it. Depending on how luxurious the product is you're talking upwards of $8,000 a day.

You could say that you're a testing photographer looking for girls in the new faces department, but unless they've gone in for a meeting with director of new faces, and they've seen and approved your portfolio, or you used to be the assistant of an internationally known photogrpher, or a photogrpaher that has been on their client roster---PFFFFTTT! ...oh did I mention that you will actually be responsible for going in to meet the agent to show them the testing photographs for the girl's portfolio and the agency's website?

Not to mention that you as the "client" are responsible for the transportation, meals, and lodging for the model the MOMENT they leave their abode to get to the job and their return transportation once the production is completed...


...then of course there are the small details the agent will enter into your "client" file such as the production, location, ad agency or art direstor, the product the day rate AND your BILLING INFORMATION.

...and don't think for a second that these people are that stupid...not even the models themselves. The world of fashion is a VERY small one and the girls are very well versed in what is a proper shoot, or simply disaster shoot where people simply have no idea what they're doing, and lastly what is a COMPLETE SHAM. Agents are on the phone with their talent the moment they arrive at a job and throughout the day to make sure things are going smoothly. It only takes a second for bad feelings to erupt and suddenly have a phone war happening in the middle of a real shoot...let alone what they would do once they figure out that you've tried to bullshit them

In a nutshell: not a very good idea. Try some happening nightspots or beach bars known to cater to fashionistas instead. You'll have better luck .
