Computer Uses that don't require the Internet?

How much time do you spend doing something on the computer that isn't this?

What type of stuff do you use your computer for that doesn't require internet access?

What would you like to learn to do with your computer that doesn't require internet access?

The Computer is such a powerful toolbox of tricks and abilities, do you use it to the computers' full potential? Why or why not?

there's dozens of ways to make music with your computer. What do you use it for and how often?

heheh... "i make beats"... like someone made a thread about recently...

no, actually i use acid pro 5, sound forge, cool edit, fruityloops pro and have a great sm57 shure mic and professional non-computer instruments and record them live with fruityloops as the drums, unless i can get ahold of a real kit somewhere...

i plug everything in straight into the computer after putting it through a small basic hardware mixer.

mostlikely the video editing software that came with is a piece of dodo. Unless you are working with a Apple. Nonetheless, it is one of my favorte things to do with the computer. Video editing is such a pleasure, especailly since I've always wanted to do this, but as a young child it would have required 10s of thousands of dollars worth of equiptment, that can now be done upon my computer. I love my computers.

What type of videos would you like to edit? Band music videos? Do you have a camera?

Apple nod iMovie
I would like the kids to write scripts and act them out so they could make movies - I'm thinking my kids could be creative. We have a digital video camera. Also to make a little band video to put on the band website.

For years I didn't even have an internet connection because it was free at the University, yet I still spent all my days at the computer.

Yours truliest's most common uses for the computer:

- Recording music
- Mastering/mixing someone else's music
- Listening to mp3s
- Writing essays
- Drawing
- Playing (old) computer games
- Watching old demos
- Watching movie clips
- Fiddling with Linux (it can turn into a hobby on its own right)

Actually I keep the comp offline most of the time anyway.

How much time do you spend doing something on the computer that isn't this?
9 out of 11 pc hours a day

What type of stuff do you use your computer for that doesn't require internet access?
analyze data
write programs to analyze data
make presentations to discuss results
write scientific articles about results, if any
damn i'm a nerd lol
oh, and play the occasional game

What would you like to learn to do with your computer that doesn't require internet access?
dunno actually

The Computer is such a powerful toolbox of tricks and abilities, do you use it to the computers' full potential? Why or why not?
Hell yeah. When I'm not doing anything on the PC, it still is 100% busy with calculating possible new drugs against cancer, HIV, Alzheimer etc etc.
(sorta SETI@home project, but then for medical purposes). As soon as i start doing anything on the PC again, all CPU-power switches to what i want!
If you wanna know more about that, orgnote me
(otherwise i may jack this thread about this) wink

Anx

1. There's that stuff they make me do at my job instead of being on the Org.

2. I use my computer to organize the music on my mp3 player - I gave it a lot of love this weekend, cleaning up misspelled and duplicated names and whatnot.

3. I make CD compilations on my computer. After spending half the year tinkering with it, I finally got my Nero 7.0 to work on my new laptop.

4. I write and write and write.

5. I have the computer game of Scrabble and it's addictive.

6. Scanning/picture crap.

Actually I wonder how many of the orgers were computer users before the internet became commonplace? It's just that it's basically the same thing, you just didn't waste your time confined inside your house thinking you're genuinely socializing with other people, as people do think they are doing today. Back in the day it was a reclusive thing to be addicted to your computer, and nobody thought of it as a form of being social.
