Nope. Turns out Girlfriend A was best friends with "jane" during their undergrad years. "Jane" wound up going to law school, at the same university, with Girlfriend B. They clerked in the South afterward. Jane threw a party, and at the party, found out where I worked and said: "Well, he's just GOTTA know my best friend from undergrad! She works there. And, she's really gorgeous, and she's really smart! And, she's oh, so talented..." Meanwhile, Girlfriend B just played dumb, as if she had no idea that Jane was talking about the woman I'd dated before her.

Girlfriend B called me up when she got home from the party, furious that I'd never told her that little tidbit about them attending the same school.

"Why didn't you tell me that???" she yelled into the phone. "I have such a headache right now!!! She just kept saying how wonderful she was!!!"

"Well," I said sheepishly, "You're ... you're wonderful, too..."
