I'M SUNBURNED!

And I hate it!

pout

I was outside for maybe an hour today and I hadn't planned on being outside so I hadn't properly applied sunblock and now my neck, chest and the top of my back are redder than a tomato.

sad

Do you burn easily?

I rarely burn...most of the time I just get really brown. That works for me since I am living in Arizona and it is like the surface of the Sun in the summertime. biggrin

I'm going to have to go out for aloe soon, I think. I've been applying regular lotion about every 30 minutes or so, but it's still super hot to the touch. sigh

I kept steering my friends into the shade, but the damage was done. I should know better. I should have just gone home today. pout How sad is it that I can't even enjoy a nice sunny afternoon outside with some friends without the proper preparation?

I have to be outside for 6-8 hours in very strong sunshine to burn, and at that it is burned very little. It quickly turns to a dark tan in a day or so.

hah! Really White People.

no. smile

Just where my neckline plunged. lol I was wearing a long-sleeve shirt, even so my arms are fine, but the backs of my hands are a bit pink and all freckled. And I always wear sunblock on my face, that's just part of my morning routine, so at least my face is fine. smile

Aw, that sucks. I hate that crispy feeling. comfort

Cool compresses, aloe (skip the regular lotion--if you want, you can follow the aloe with a thin layer of vaseline or cocoa butter), and anti-inflammatories (asprin, ibuprofen, naproxen) for a couple of days.

I burn really fast, generally peel right back to pale. I feel ya.

I found something fun in the back of my medicine cabinet that's working well. It's lotion w/a bit of menthol in it to draw the heat out. It's not SUPER hot anymore. smile

Good. biggrin

Yeah, I've used solarcaine before, which I think has aloe and lidocaine. Anything to make it feel better.

I got very sunburned in California.

I was at an outdoor pool for all of 2 hours?

I was like a damn lobster! eek

I kinda forgot what it was like to get a sunburn though, hadn't had one in over 3 years.

No I keep a tan year round- I live in Georgia! But I did get sunburned in Mexico in 2004. The tops of my shoulders were something nasty. It was October, the sun in Mexico is intense!
Socks still got butt like a leather seat...
