..why do some black guys call girls shorty? Even when you are taller than them?? I don't get it.

Term of endearment, such as shorty bebop, dude, man, cat, cool, baby, son, cuz, fam, homeslice, homie, lady, etc.

But, is it just a "black" thing?

both children and women are referred to as shorties. I'm guessing that even though there are some exceptions, most women are shorter than men
