The Pillowman

Anybody ever read or see Martin McDonagh's play The Pillowman?

It's very disturbing. Really interesting ideas and scenes. It stays with you.

But I don't know how I felt about it.

It's about a guy who writes short stories who finds himself arrested in relation to the death of a number of children in the area. The deaths follow the plot of some of his short stories etc.

It's about the relationship between stories or creativity and real life trauma.

It's supposedly set "in a totalitarian state," but I didn't see that at all, nor did I see the point of that element.

I just heard about it and read it the other day. But yeah there was stage production. I think it won some awards. I don't think there has been a movie.

How's The Recognitions coming along?

P.S. Generally I don't like plays, especially reading them. yawn

I prefer novels or nonfiction.

shrug

I hope this doesn't change the way anyone feels about me.

I saw this live last year. It was sort of like a Tim Burton, David Fincher "7", type of thing, that ultimately was a whodunnit.
