The lighting wasn't good enough, strong enough, to light the subject properly. I agree

They are a little fuzzy.I agree

The dress part of the outfit could have been dressed. In other words, shaped so that it would have hung better. A little great example of what I mean is the tasel on the white scarf around her butt. You can easily note a tasel climming up her ass rather then hanging down the dress as it should be. I noticed that too... they should have fixed her hip scarf at least

You asked for Opinions from Photographers. I believe you did this to improve not just as a egobloating, that is why I have said what I said. It's good to have something to work toward. The photographes are enjoyable.

neutral egobloating ?

shrug i didnt take the pics

rose thanx ...i didnt take them and i wansnt there yesterday when they were taken ( thats my youngest daughter )

i THINK i may have been able to take slightly better ones myself
( maybe !! )

people pay BIG $ for these photo sittings and lots of $ for the finished product... just not sure if in MY opinion they are that good of quality

confused

to be honest, they aren't, and the photographer should be ashamed to take money for the product. There are so many HACKS out there, Byron can attest to that, I know I saw horrible examples back when I was shooting semi pro.

What is so wrong with them...are you saying that I dont know a good picture when I see one....you started out this statement with to be honest...so are you disclaiming my statement as me being dishonest? The beauty of a photograph is different to each person looking at it.

Then hun if you are not happy with them, go and talk to the photographer...tell her you want a reshoot or your money back. Like I said above I like the three at the top I in my professional photographers opinion-4 year degree to prove it-Jersthink are beautiful, but if you are not happy with them as I said talk to the photographer. Also keep in mind I we are looking at these on a cpmputer screen not the actual photographs that will make a difference in what I see also.

One other thing to keep in mind, the technique of each photographer is going to vary...find one you love and stick with them you will be happier in the end. biggrin

How and where are you going to use them? Are they going to be big posters or postcard size? Glossy or mat? Promos or for personal enjoyment?

I completely understand, I'm one to talk, I never post my pro work because deep down I don't think it's that good. But I am a technical nitpicker, and Mach asked, so I figured I'd give my opinion.

I feel you, I sold all my pro equipment to help fund my divorce, I'm bitter too bitch.

8x10 inches...roughly 20x25 cm? If the focus isn't perfect, that's probably big enough for it to be noticeable, unfortunately. Mat is usually nicer, but if you're worried about the sharpness then glossy usually improves it slightly, at least it creates an illusion of it being a tad sharper. If it's for personal use I'd be a bit grumpy since I paid good money for it, but it's definitely not the end of the world. Especially since you've decided to go for the sepia tint which brings to mind old pictures, and people subconsciously expect old pictures to be a bit out of focus. I think the colour is a pretty good decision in general since the dance itself has a long history.

That being said, I definitely wouldn't blame you if you would bring the pictures back and ask them to redo it. You have as much right to complain about a technically flawed photograph as you have to complain about, say, a piece of electronics that simply doesn't work.

on another note, I, as someone accepting money from someone, would never get upset if they were unhappy. I would do all I could to make the shot they desire, or correct any mistakes they did not like.

What's the white "thing" over on the lefthand side of the first photo, Mach??...Is that something that occurred when you scanned these in or is it actually part of the photo itself?

(I circled it in red)

You can see it more prominently in this one...I copied the photo onto a larger black background, and where the lefthand side of the photo ends, you can see a white "smudge" or something over there...
