Yes. I've a bottle in my home.

The trick about Absinthe is that isn't illegal in the united states, it's only illegal for Resale. Thus you need order it from over seas.

More questions?

There are several types on the market. They varry in price and quality. My first bottles were bought off ebay. It's a nice place to start if you use ebay. However there are other places to buy it on the internet.

Thank you for the ebay tip. But I don't know what to look for on ebay...I don't want a poor quality or "knock off" absinthe.

While price is a concern, I would like my first absinthe experience to be of quality. Perhaps not the highest, priciest quality though.

The stuff that is legal and sold in the US is not the real deal. It doesn't contain thujone. So be on the lookout for the fake stuff.

My understanding is that it's illegal to import Absinthe to the US, so anything you buy out of the country might be seized at customs.

It's legal here in Ontario but very expensive.

You really can't get genuine Absinthe from anywhere anymore, it's a watered down version of the real deal. Especially all the bottles that originate from some Eastern European countries, where it is freely available (stupid students go over there to buy it without realizing it really has nothing to do with real absinthe, and thinking they are cool having bought drugs). Some monks in monasteries still make the real product, and that's hard to acquire.

Monks are great by the way.

I disagree. I would assume you tryed only one bottle or glass and it wasn't the real stuff. Chec isn't very good.

It's been a while since I've ordered it off ebay, and I did a search and came up empty, maybe ebay changed the rules.

However, my wife often orders it off the internet and I will ask her for the website and post it later with recomendations. I've got to bounce right now however.

Thank you all for your feedback.

Basically, I will have to leave the country to acquire absinthe, no?

Making my own? Hhmmm...I don't know about that. Is it legal to get all of the required ingredients?

It's not that I'm looking to buy/drink a drug. I have always been curious about the taste. I would like to try genuine, quality absinthe.

If I were just looking to get a high I would blunt not martini

If you're looking for the flavor, it tastes like anise with herbs.
Opal Nero Black Sambuca tastes better.

I've had both the real Absinthe and Absente which is legal in the US . The effects and flavor are very similar.Absente runs about $35 dollars a bottle.
I would drink either one of them again.

People ban harmless stuff too sometimes. Not to say that absinthe is harmless, just saying that banning and censorship isn't always about protecting the health of the public.

Ah yes, I remember feeding her pig's semen. She loved the stuff; I had to go whack off a couple of swine just to meet her demand.

If it tastes like anise than it must taste similiar to blak licorice...that's disappointing. I still want to try it.

So is there a certain type or name that I should be looking for when shopping for absinthe?

Hey I just "talked to" Tom Green and he says absinthe is very tasty. Apparently Marilyn Manson gave him a bottle of it.

I love Tom and Marilyn, so maybe I'll enjoy absinthe too. lol
