I can understand how you'd be upset... but was he just goofing around and not meaning any harm or was he an unruly uncle that sort of got out of hand for a moment?

I did have a good time at the bbq... he pushed me in as my girlfriend and I were saying our goodbyes... as I was falling into the pool, trying to catch my balance, I said "WAIT!! I HAVE MY CELL PHONE ON ME". Then, there was a big splash as my massive body hit the water.

The one good thing that came out of this is that my girlfriend told me that if the uncle felt like he could push me into the water than I'm essentially "in" with the family and they like me... so, I guess that's good...

I actually just got it a couple months ago (it's a RAZR) and I couldn't remember whether or not I had insurance... on our way home from the BBQ, we stopped at Cingular to find out, and it turns out that I never got insurance... Also, the thing that sucks, is that when I got my phone, I got it for relatively cheap because I extended my contract, etc... to replace it, it's going to cost me (aka, my gf's uncle) a decent amount of cash. With the cell phone and camera, it's probably at least $500... ouch. I feel bad that I have to ask him for that kinda cash, but it WAS his fault, ya know...

Another good thing is that maybe I'll upgrade my camera... I'll just get the money it would take to replace my current camera (like $250 or something?) and use that towards the purchase of a nicer camera - maybe spend another hundred or so for a really nice one... is that a bad thing to do?

I had the same phone a few months ago and mine went caput on me... so much so that the screen wouldn't show anything and they were still able to transfer my contacts to my new phone as long as the old one at least turned on. Of course, since yours is water-logged perhaps it won't turn on and that's the problem. Ask again or at least have them try.
