thesexofit said: Honestly though, gay people do not seem to like those arnie tpye action flicks? Why is that? well, i can only answer for myself - there are some action flicks i love, but the arnie/stallone crap is formulaic, kneejerk masturbation fantasy material for people who feel disempowered by life and want to live vicariously through someone on screen who gets to stick it to the man. i like indiana jones, though. he just snoops around and gets chased by boulders. i can deal with that. i like some of the superhero movies. i don't think this is a gay thing with me - i just think it's what i like. i know what you mean, though.

Damn, that deep. Good points. I could relate to the living vicariously part if i think deep enough. But to be honest, who doesn't do this slightly when their "hero" is on screen. We all, when watching a movie, want to be said person if we really like said person. I wish i was as charismatic as eddie murphy if i thought about it, but i dont go around trying to be him though. Certainly the rocky movies are built on the classic "against all odds" thing, something that would appeal more to working class people maybe? I dont like reading too much into movies, and i cetainly dont like disecting them. Infact, analysis, when done to an insane degree like star wars fans do, is, for me, sad and missing the purpose of the film, which is to obviously, entertain and little else. Movies dont inspire me, but in a way, maybe i'd like them to. Maybe iam not as simple minded as i think iam. But when say, "last action hero" is over (which is actually about going into a movie), I know its all fantasy, every film is, and it was just fun to watch and talk about. Little more then that really. [Edited 6/15/06 18:18pm]
