New York, New York My ex is going for the very first time and I'm a little worried about her.
She'll be on her own (she's going for a trade show) and she's young. Any 'hoods she should avoid at night? Parts of the subway system she should stay away from? Do you think cabdrivers will try and take her the long way 'round? Me, I go pretty much anywhere in that town without a second thought, but - then again - I'm not a young woman on her own. New Yawkers, holla!

advise her to contact the chamber of commerence in NY. In most cities C of C will inform people of the safer areas of the city as well as tourist sites.
You might be able to contact the chamber online. also, contact the police department for similiar information. they too may have contact information to the chamber of commerence. One last tip, go to "point to point driving directions" in yahoo.com after you find out where she is staying. this site gives you information on restaurants, shopping areas and etc...within close proximaty (scuse the spelling). i hope this helps.... i love you for who you are, not the one u feel u need to be.
My star shines bright ....even in the darkest night...

Not worried about her going to and from the trade show. More about her exploring the city at night. She might be crashing w/some friends of mine who live in Brooklyn, but undetermined at this point.

Sounds to me like she should be just fine. If she does travel to brooklyn, depending on what part, I would advise taking a cab and not the train. Steer clear of Central Park at night too.
